Good point about Coon and Gilded Age. But for some reason I thought she lives in the midwest, not NY? Anyway, I wonder if she uses the big HBO money to invest in her husband's shows, too. Theater is a very tough business these days. |
| Nicole Bloom was good as Maud Beaton - I didn’t know that was her. |
No, I doubt they are funding Tracy's work with her HBO money. Tracy Letts is a lauded playwright and actor. He's won three Pulitzers for his plays. His three most famous plays (August: Osage County, Killer Joe, and Bug) have all been adapted into movies, I think he wrote the screenplays for all three. He has won multiple Tony awards, for both writing and acting. He's known for doing small roles in big movies -- you would probably recognize him but not be able to place him because he's been doing these little character roles in really major films for like 20 years. He's extremely well respected. His plays get major investors. Even, yes, in this tough business. Until a few years ago, Tracy was definitely the more famous and successful one in their marriage, though Coon has always been a respected stage actress and of course her work on Leftovers is beloved (but not widely known -- she didn't even get an Emmy nomination for that show somehow). Coon has performed in several of his plays, both in their first run, or in the case of her current show, productions of established work (Letts wrote the play Bug that Coon is currently starring in like 20 years ago, maybe longer). But his career doesn't depend on her success at all. They have both independently built very successful but niche careers on stage and in Hollywood. People like them and want to work with them because they work incredibly hard and are so skilled at what they do. They could both do more film work and more commercial stuff if they wanted, but they prefer to take on challenging, interesting projects and don't really seem to care about being ultra famous or getting some giant payday. They are both from the midwest and met in Chicago but have been NY based for years because of their work on and off Broadway. They live in Westchester now. |
Agree, she's good. It's a tricky role, too. But perhaps done at this point? |
Newsflash- married people are lone, too. It’s lonelier in a bad relationship than being on your own. The divorce rate is huge for a reason. Also, most people that have been married, don’t want to do it again so your thinking is way outdated. |
Some of those people went to his wedding with the new wife. They're kept their friendship with him for some reason. |
He was a nasty cheater when he was with Jennifer so I have very little hope things have changed. I don't think hes fit for monogamy |
+1 And his very recent history of dating 18-20 year old women does not reflect well on his character. How could he possibly be a good guy? That's predator behavior. |
And didn’t she break off her engagement for Justin? Neither one seems to have a lot of integrity. They are in it for the publicity. |
It might work out then. Similar values and goals is one of the best predictors of marital success. |
It's because their friendships with him pre-dated their friendships with Jennifer: the Stillers, Kimmels, and Paul Rudd. The Kimmels are the only ones who ended up in her inner circle. She's worked with the others and they were friendly, but not close per se. I don't think Billy Crudup and Naomi Watts attended the wedding, which surprised me. They've known him forever. Maybe they were working. I think Will Arnett and Sean Hayes are closer to JA and the Batemans than Theroux. So there was a relatively clean division of friendships after the split. But she remained friendly with him, so not like friends had to choose even if they may have had their opinions. |
I doubt it's for the publicity per se, since neither one is all that famous. They can walk around NYC with no fanfare. Jen's new BF has almost as many Insta followers as Theroux now, and she is a 30-something character actress who's had a few meaty but smaller roles in big projects. Too soon to tell how her career will go. As for the integrity thing, good point. Someone posted upthread both have a history of trading up, which doesn't bode well. And his history is concerning. |
Lol. |
Individually, you are right they’re not that famous but together they are. Do you think Nicole would’ve had a Vanity Fair spread about her wedding if she had married the investment banker she was originally engaged to? No. And people mainly care about Justin because he dated Jen. His every move from his wedding to this baby announcement people are tracking Jen’s moves. Did she like the post? Does she wish him well? Is she pining after a baby? Which is of course ridiculous because she’s living her life and seems quite happy but she will always be the victim since Brad left her for a beautiful woman who he had six kids with…. only she got the last laugh cause he turned out to be hardly father of the year and ALL six kids are estranged from him, and apparently he was a drunk and a pot addict for 30 years. She dodged a bullet, but that’s never the story. |
He also wrote screen play for iron man 2. Probably made a lot from that one. |
