I don't care about either of these people, other than the fun gossip-y stuff. Love that Aniston made a point of liking the baby post, very smart. Did any of their mutual friends like it or comment? That to me would be telling. The Will Arnetts, Kate Hudsons, Kimmels etc. I saw mostly her co-stars commenting. She seems to be well-liked by her castmates.
Did Carrie Coon like it? Co-starred with Justin in Leftovers and now Nicole is on Gilded Age. Though Carrie doesn't seem to be very active on Instagram -- looks like someone on her staff runs it.
My impression is that Carrie and Justin were colleagues not friends. She habitually referred to him as her "scene partner." Look, we all know Justin paid little attention to women close to his own age. Even during the Leftovers he was photographed hanging out with the younger girls. Hopefully nothing untoward there, but his recent partners seem to have overlooked some glaring red flags. The one exception I can think of is Ann Dowd; they seemed to have a genuine rapport. Doubt she's the social media type. I also get the general impression that Carrie is very professional, leaves work and focuses on her family life. A good bit older than Nicole, no reason to think they'd have much in common. Nicole is very close to Meryl Streep's daughter on the Gilded Age though. Also, Nicole had a very small role.
https://www.interviewmagazine.com/theater/carrie-coon-takes-justin-theroux-inside-the-years-most-anxiety-inducing-play Justin just interviewed Carrie about her current play on Broadway. They are obviously not close friends but lots of mutual respect for one another's work. They talk about Nicole (who Carrie calls very talented), mention Ann Dowd as a great mutual friend, discuss being an actor with young kids (Carrie talks about how hard it is to do theater with kids and the schedule does sound awful), whether Justin will ever do theater again (it's been a long time but he'd do a short run if asked), and then lots of shop talk about Carrie's play and acting and working with her husband (Tracy Letts, actor/playwright who wrote her current play back when they were both with Steppenwolf in Chicago). He doesn't come off as a red flag. The both seem charming.
No one said he can't be charming. The opposite in fact. Carrie Coon is a major talent, kind of bummed she's stuck in GA tbh. A limited, mediocre role compared to many of her others. Hope the series ends soon. Normally she's so discerning, not sure why she accepted the part. Glad she's able to do some theater in the meantime.
I think she likes doing TV. And she's always doing theater. Even though Gilded Age is kind of hammy, I think Coon is really enjoying the role and likes getting to work with Morgan Spector, who I think has a similar ethos to Coon. The show is also loaded with other great actors, like Christine Baranski, Audra McDonald, and Donna Murphy. It's probably a great paycheck for a job she only has to do like two months at a time with big gaps in between, and that films in NY so she can go home to her actual house every night instead of filming on location somewhere. And then she can do theater or other projects in between as she wants. That's a really good gig for her. Plus high profile as one of HBO's Sunday night featured shows, so positive for her career. I bet Justin Theroux would love a similar gig, actually. The TV he's done recently has all been these sort of niche streamer shows with much more limited audiences. Probably decent pay but nowhere near the level of exposure of what Coon has gotten with GA and White Lotus in the last few years.
Good point about Coon and Gilded Age. But for some reason I thought she lives in the midwest, not NY? Anyway, I wonder if she uses the big HBO money to invest in her husband's shows, too. Theater is a very tough business these days.
