| DD has 2013 Q3 birthday and currently plays ECNL. Her club will move her down next year, but she doesn't want to play with the 2014s at her club. I know there are no guarantees, but, given that she's dropping down, she should compete for a spot on most if not all ECNL or GA clubs in the DMV. How do the 2014 teams stack up? Anything in GA worth looking at? Any clubs have particularly strong coaches at U13? She's going to start contacting coaches about attending practices, but there's a limit to how many she can practically attend. |
Loudoun which will turn into NVA GA, McLean GA AND SYC GA all have strong groups at 2014 this year. |
This is spicy. Is her club inside the beltway or outside the beltway? |
Hah - be careful answering that because there are only so many people in your situation. However, I will offer that my Q4 daughter played 2013 ECNL this year not in the DC area and is actually happy to move down. The teams are essentially at the same level in their league and even though she started most of the time and got plenty of minutes, she'd be the main focus on the new team. She's also a bit smaller/later developer so the physicality is the main problem this year. She's already grown 4 inches since the spring so she's catching up, but it will be nice not being one of the smallest kids on the pitch next year. |
| 2013 ECNL Girls are getting beat by the 2013 GA in the area. I would go with the local GA teams. |
| We are a military family moving to DC next June. We will come in for tryouts if needed. Which 2013 team needs help in the midfield? She is coming from a strong TX ECNL team, and will age banding will be right in the middle instead of the "oldest" kid on the team. |
Question for any on these teams, planning to stay on current team or plan to try for ECNL? We are ECNL and will probably repeat. Not sure how teams will shape up yet. Don’t think we want to go GA unless no other options. |
Did you miss the whole part about the AG change and teams re-forming? Also, the top ECNL teams still beat the top GA teams. |
Besides Bethesda beating Nva last weekend what other ecnl teams have beat the GA teams? |
We are not from the area but played many DMV GA and ECNL teams this year at u13. In general, GA teams in that area are physical and direct. ECNL teams tended to be more technical, possession based, and keep the ball on the ground. How good a team is can change as the girls grow into the ball size and field. Both still too big for 12 year old girls. Pick whatever style you think is best for your daughter. Of course, that can all change with the age change. |
This is accurate. |
not in this area at 2013z. ask arlington, FVU and VDA. All losing to local GA teams. |
such a bad characterization. Many ECNL teams play direct and are physical. And Many GA teams are technical and possession based. Just depends on coach and players rostered. |
Bethesda average for this age group. Good Defense. Offensive is terrible. |
The only 2013 GA teams in the DMV that might beat a 2013 ECNL team in the DMV are NVA and SYC. All other GA teams would get slaughtered by BSC, Union, Arlington, and VDA. Revolution is in first place in 2013 GA South Midatlantic and they lost to VDA 7-0. And NVA just lost to BSC 2-0. BTW, the OP asked about 2014 teams. |
