Arlington typically changes coaches as they go from U12 to U13. Just not sure who would be in consideration for the job. |
The Vienna girls 2013 will do just fine and have plenty of slots on The Onion. The U13 coach is MV who is an embedded Vienna guy. You think he's just going to pass on all his Vienna players in favor of their hated rival McLean? Regardless of talent, Vienna will load up the Onion. That is why Onions tend to stink. |
I think they will make room. ECNL usually has a bad habit of taking too many players to bring in the CASH. That 2013 Mclean squad has 12 girls, they will expand the roster to 18 next year. Then 20+ by u14. |
Never feared when my kid played a Vienna team. Ever. Their parents were usually silent but the second half, just waiting to go home. |
Ouch! I'd argue if I could. |
| What’s the take on VSA and VDA? VSA was bottom of table u11 and then flipped the script this fall. Did they have players playing up and level out this past year? PW and Herndon haven’t been strong so curious on what’s going on there. |
PWSI needs a goalie. Badly. |
| I wish Arlington would take girls from 2013 white and red for the ecnl team. They keep taking girls from outside and then they get pushed down because they are not as good. Arlington has some strong players to draw from. |

Arlington, Loudoun, and McLean will always keep the original Academy kids in the top team, and take kids from outside the club, They don't usually promote kids within their club!

You need to read the other threads this is repeated over and over with other Arlington years and other clubs as well If you want to play ecnl at Arlington and are on the White or Red your best bet is go to a different club and come back in a year or two. They may pick 1 kid from those teams to move up. The one thing you can guarantee is that they will take at least 1 kid from outside that isnt as good as one of the kids on red/white and the following year that kid will be gone or have moved down. |
2013 mclean is stacked and likely best age group. This is followed by 2013 loudoun. Very low probability outside those two clubs. Another twist with loudoun is a rumor that TD has been recruiting girls outside loudoun. |
Does this happen at the rising U13 Arlington team specifically or at Arlington generally? I’d be interested in knowing whether girls from outside the club who join at the beginning of ECNL experience this. That would be a pretty bad reflection on Arlington’s ability to assess talent, or worse yet on Arlington’s ECNL standards. If someone new to the club were willing to accept a non-ECNL spot after a year on the ECNL team, then they’re clearly not ECNL-level talent or they’d go to another ECNL or even GA team before taking a second team spot, and you have to wonder why the club would have taken such a player in the first place. |
| Where do the VDA ECNL teams practice? |
That's correct, they got 2 GFR 2014G mid-season to play up with Loudoun 2013, with 15 kids on a 9v9 game, how fun! |
As PP noted, they had a rough second half of the fall season. |
