Young people won’t vote. They didn’t in 1972 and they won’t in 2024. Hopefully Harris has some other strategy in the works.

That was before Roe. Young people, especially women, have had their rights taken away. With a woman at the top of the ticket few are going to sit this election out.

You need to stop thinking that is the only reason people will vote for her. I just got back from a vacation with extended family. Politics was discussed quite a bit and there were people with extreme opinions on both sides sharing a house. But on the topic of abortion and women’s rights, three generations of women for different reasons said they had a very hard time supporting the Democratic Party right now. Most vocal was the elderly women present who often spoke about how conflicted they felt. They were pro women and pro women’s rights and wanted to make sure those rights were protected for their grandchildren. They also wanted those rights to extend to sports, and safety and schools. They thought the left has gone too far in many areas where the rights of women are NOT being protected, from immigration to gender issues. I’m not making any of this up and these conversations came up every single day.

Generational self hatred.

Right. Because people should be abortion only voters.

There is much more to women’s rights.

There sure is! Equal pay (which the GOP has fought for decades), protection from domestic abuse (which the GOP has fought for decades), keeping guns out of the hands of domestic abusers (which the GOP has vociferously opposed), women in sports (the GOP has fought Title IX for decades; don’t let their trans obsession fool you, they think women shouldn’t be playing sports. Too unladylike), prosecuting rape and addressing rape culture (which the GOP treats as a joke) and women in the working world (which the GOP doesn’t think women should do either, at least not the corporate jobs. They’d be happy for women to go back to doing laundry and selling plates of chicken). Oh and yes, that little issue of bodily autonomy which the GOP thinks is a non issue and that women should stop having recreational abortions every week.

The GOP hates women. We’re not people in their party and everyone but Republicans knows it.

You're right. I see it every time a MAGA posts a meme or makes a crack about Harris needing knee pads. Any woman who has worked with men or supervised or outranked men has been through this and it makes me rage.

I think he’s losing weight as a result of his dementia. He’s probably beginning to lose interest in food.
