No real dog in the fight, but if a kid never plays at one school, then transfers and a year later, commits to an Ivy, there is a problem. I know Prep had a ton of poles, but that kid had to get on field in some way or form. Bad job by Pre coaching for sure… you can’t have that happen. |
Exactly! 100% |
How did Penn have a spot for him almost a year after 2025 recruiting window opened? Is he reclassing/ doing a PG year? |
It's not like they have scholarship money to hand out. |
Lots of reclassing/pg'ing going on, and anyone playing this game understands the goal is preferential admissions and not scholarship dollars. |
It’s full pay unless you are dei. They can have 100 kids on the roster if they want. |
He is not doing a PG year. He is a 2025 and is listed on Inside Lacrosse as a 2025 commit to UPenn. He makes UPenn’s 12th commit for the 2025 high school class. That’s a typical amount of commits. Some schools have 10 and some have 14. It varies. Interesting fact, though, all other UPenn commits have either three or four star ratings. This Landon commit is the only one with no rating. He really went from obscurity to stardom. Good for him. Prep coaching staff really missed the boat with this kid. If true, telling him he would never start is insane. Losing the IAC championship to Landon while this former bench warmer guarded their top offensive weapon must have stung. One has to ask, how many other kids has Prep looked over? |
Considering they were one of the best teams in the country in 2023, probably not many. Also, the coach was a DI assistant and a Team USA member. Clearly is doing a fine job. |
This comment is non-sensical. First, being a Team USA member does not correlate to being a good coach. Everyone knows that. Second, Prep was one of the best teams in the country in 2023, but many of the starters played on the same top club team together. You could argue they played well because of their club team coaching and experience together vs Prep’s coaching. Especially after watching the talented 2024 team falter. They clearly needed this kid this year, but he likely would have still been sitting on the bench. Prep also had a large bench in 2023 including about 14 poles and numerous D1, D2, and D3 commits who rarely ever saw the field. Thirdly, they told this kid he would never start, so clearly overlooked him. I am sure he is not the first one or just an anomaly, but we will never know. |
This is that uncommon. A lot of talent wasted due to politics at these schools. The best players are not always the ones playing. |
This is so true! |
Or lacrosse recruiting is pretty random. The lsm at Landon was the best player on the team and he's going d3. The goalie was terrific all year and didn't get a sniff from colleges. Or how about criticizing Landon for letting the best player in the area transfer and go to GP eventually. Or how about the attack at SJC that transferred from Landon and started this year as a soph bc Landon made other choices with their starters. |
Well, were any of those guys told they'd never start? Because there was an anonymous poster on here that said that happened at GP. #facts |
Anyone else mystified by US Club player rankings? How do they rank players? Example the goalie who is ranked 4.5 didn’t play hs ball and moved schools only to be suspended for bad behavior? How does he get ranked and no one else? How about SJC goalie? I mean having a solid defense doesn’t make you a good goalie, makes it easier. Total mystery. |
I'm fairly sure no one that matters cares. Grab a beer. |
