My sense is there they are going to maintain lower numbers overall in some or maybe all groups do to limitations of some of the alternate locations. But that's just my speculation - I know that the overall numbers in some of the groups this year were lower and I think that was due to the uncertainty of where they were going but that is known now. Also, right now there is some additional uncertainty because the returning swimmers have not yet had to commit so they don't know how many slots they have available... they have an idea as some kids/families have already made their move or their intentions have been otherwise made clear, but they don't have exact numbers. I don't think it's necessarily a "wild goose chase" to try out, somebody will fill any of the slots that become available so why not your DC? However, historically, it's tough to get in - for the junior group last year they had over 100 kids trying out for 3 or 4 open slots. The odds for the mini group(8 and under) were better, but you still you had over 100 kids trying out for no more than 15 to 20 slots. |
Thanks everyone for the feedback about tryout at KSAC! |
Current KSAC family here. If your child meets the requirements and has solid fundamentals/technique, my general sense is that the chances are no better / worse than any other year, due to the various factors PP described above. But things will be clearer (to the coaches, anyway) once current swimmer registration comes out. |
KSAC closed as of today. Last meet was the LC meet last week and they had some tryouts this week as well. It's anybody's guess as to when it will be open again but my prediction is fall of 2026... fingers crossed! |
Thanks Captain Obvious! |
