email today says no. diving 1-3 still held at silver spring, HS/mst on hold, JO/NDP at Germantown. |
KSAC is closing in late June, following the LC meets on the schedule. |
The affected group today (NTG) uses the deep lanes. We were told it’s fixed and back to normal Tuesday. I assume this also means the actual diving well too. |
Yes, there were divers using the well last night. There's an LC meet there this weekend and lets hope the whole facility can stay patched together w/o to much trouble for this final month and a half! |
I think the PP was asking about 2025 (and likely 2026). |
The outdoor pool is 50-meters at MLK. |
How long is it closing down for? |
Schedule is 2 years for the renovations but big projects like these always run long so add another 6-12 months on that. My bet is on 2027 for re-opening. https://www.montgomerycountymd.gov/OMB/Resources/Files/omb/pdfs/fy24/ciprec/P721503.pdf |
I thought it was scheduled for 18 months, so I was assuming 2 years. Ugh. |
They said this is a preliminary 24-25 schedule. https://www.montgomerycountymd.gov/rec/Resources/Files/aquatics/RMSC%20KSAC%20Letter_Update%204_1.pdf
My question is if it will change every year based on their contract with all these facilities. If so, it could be such a challenge to arrange/rearrange schedules for other activities. Any one know how long are their terms with other non-MCR facilities? |
Contracts/agreements are annual. The desire is for consistency/stability of the schedule year to year but there is no guarantee(like life). There are multiple alternate sites in play here so if there would a change year to year, I wouldn't expect that it be wholesale so I anticipate that the the schedules will be mostly the same or close to what they were the previous year. |
I would guess they will have an influx of young kids when they reopen but that many of their older swimmers will have switched to other locations or clubs. I know ASA and NCAP have taken in a few KSAC/RMSC swimmers already
|
Do you think there is any point in trying out for KSAC for next year? It sounds like they will be struggling to get current swimmers place(s) to practice from my quick skim of this thread. How likely is it they will accept anyone new? I see they have tryouts early before the closure, but maybe it's a wild goose chase to try? |
I think they will have openings. If you're ok with the new schedule and practice sites, you should have your child try out. |
Good coaches. Just logistical headache with the many pools |
