When will KSAC pool renovations begin?

Anonymous
Our RMSC KSAC practice sadly disbanded in late June and often I drive by KSAC and have yet to see any work start. Anyone have the inside track? If not, why can’t our practices resume there rather than schlepp all around the county? This County website has yet to be updated and wondering if there is even a contractor tapped to renovate KSAC facility?

It won't re-open until 2027 at the earliest.

You might want to look into ASA or NCAP Prep.

Look at the NCAP Prep thread which should be enough to steer you to Tollefson, ASA, or NCAP AU

They said it was supposed to be a two-year closure, but the general sense of how MoCo does things. It will be more like meadow side nature center which has been under renovation since 2020. How hard is it to make a nature center?

Writing on the wall, KSAC is basically just closed, the county doesn't have money because they have to pay teacher pensions, but it's unpopular to say so.

Just following up

I thought that everything at KSAC moved to the new SSAC

We were hoping to all transfer over from KSAC to SSAC but SSAC is too small to accommodate RMSC KSAC team size so all groups are dispersed to different pools all over County. If you have time to waste, check out over 21 pages discussion here: https://www.dcurbanmom.com/jforum/posts/list/1189750.page

Very frustrating to see KSAC sitting idle while all of us are driving all over the County next week. I guess typical MoCo…

The majority of the slots are at SSAC but not all. See other thread for the discussion on this:

Different pots of money but county wastes a lot of money.

No, some are, some aren’t. Our group was split in half with one option at silver spring and the other up county. Other groups are all over the place.

For some reason I had already suspected that the KSAC was closed for the foreseeable future. It is an expensive facility, but I also am starting to wonder about the RSFC facilities. Construction was supposed to start right after the Rays season ended. They closed the outdoor rec pool. However, the last few times I had been there I didn't see any construction either. They were still using the outdoor rec pool for lessons.

Are you the bizzare Ray's poster? City of Rockville pool that hosts the Ray's summer and RMSC year round are seperately run and you clearly have no idea what you are talking about?

That's partially true - I was referring to "total RMSC KSAC". All the groups are scattered, some more than others. But if you look at the big picture and take a total all the training slots for all the KSAC groups, the majority these slots are at SSAC. Some groups have more than others and some groups have no SSAC slots but taken in total, there are more SSAC slots than any other location.

I tallied this up and did the math already but you can do it yourself if you want and let me know if you think I'm wrong.
