I don't think it went backwards. If anything they gained footing. More like they've they've taken 2 steps forward over the past couple of years and the exit of the 3 teams is like a step back.

What’s it going to take for these GA parents to admit and accept, the GA wasn’t before, is not now and never will be the top league. It’s ok that your daughter doesn’t play for or against the best. It was a very respectable 2nd tier league. But with the constant inclusion of more low caliber teams and defections of more and more good ones, that too is going to become questionable.

MLS, MLS NEXT, NWSL, NISA are all apart of US SOCCER.

ECNL is not part of US Soccer.
GA just gained full membership to US Soccer.

Remember when people were saying the NWSL was trying to create academies like MLS NEXT…

Well now GA is their option.

How dumb do you feel right now?

ECNL adds 3 clubs and everything going on stops happening?

Acadamies are coming to girls youth soccer.

The bigger part of all of this is the boys side and how that has been playing out in the war.

ECNL Boys is what the GA is on the girls side. MLS Next isn't going anywhere and likely won't ever be defeated by the ECNL.

How that shakes out on the girls side is still TBD.

GA vs ECNL arguments about which is the better league is stupid. That's like arguing if EPL is better than La Liga

the U17 YWNT just played in Mexico and it had a mix of GA and ECNL girls on the roster. Are the girls that played ECNL any better than the girls that played GA because they played in ECNL and vice versa? No. Is MBappe any worse of a player because he plays for PSG in Ligue 1 vs Man City in EPL or Real Madrid in La Liga? The league DOESN'T MAKE THE PLAYER.

At the end of the day, the only real thing that matters in the player. If they're good enough and they put in effort on their recruiting, they'll be seen and get offers - RL and EDP players are playing in D1. Talent is talent.

+1. Only parents with no understanding of the game get wrapped up in such nonsense.

The argument wasn't stupid when you thought GA was going to become DA 2.0
