I'm wondering if it's too early and if they actually wait in other markets until the conclusion of the season. The march rule is isolated to the VA market. |
You can always go and train with another team. In Maryland, tryouts don't start until may. |
Of course. May seems better than March, but that's just my opinion. I think when most clubs are doing it this early and the players are aware of what the roster shuffle could be for the following season if any, it affects their play for the remainder of the year which can be quite a few games if its at the younger ages. |
| No one wants to be last. Everyone wants to lock in their rosters and get their players as early as possible. Larger clubs can get away with holding tryouts super early and ENCL is its own thing. Clubs that tend to be second choice usually hold there tryouts later as to try and not conflict as much as possible, with surrounding giants. At least that has been my experience. |
I hate the sh*t-stirring on these forums, but as a parent at one of these clubs, I am picking up vibes that there may be a kernel of truth to this rumor. |
| Any update on FCV and BP? Have any of the parents been notified? |
There has to be truth to the rumor of them partnering to stay around as a program. There isn't any space in the NoVA area that isn't already occupied by other clubs. So at this point it's going to be either dissolve the GA or partner with a club that wants in. IMO it's going to be a club that fields an MLS Next team on the boys side and just needs FCV for the GA platform if it happens at all. |
FCV parent here, nothing new as of yet. |
| I am hoping all will be cleared up soon. There is so much uncertainty across Northern VA right now and the swirl is causing a lot of confusion. For FCV families it will be nice to know if they are expected to drive to Springfield to stay with FCV or if VAR will indeed be GA and the girls will seamlessly move over to VAR with the expectation that some girls will find their way to other clubs. And if BP is really going to VDA what girls will follow him there from FCV. So much is unclear right now and with the spring approaching fast, it will be fun watching the swirl continue as clubs begin seeing new faces at their practices for ID sessions. |
That's a good one, girls following BP anywhere. One of the most reviled high level coaches in the area at any level. |
Most of them stayed when DA imploded and GAL was created.

+1 |
Not really. |
Uh, yeah. |
This opinion could be said about any other 'high level coach' in the area. Depends on the persons perspective. |
