He's a kind-hearted, genuine guy in his 70's. He needs a kind-hearted, not too edgy woman who is living at the same speed (which is "moderate"). He isn't into the cuss words or the dirty dancing.

He needs a Theresa, not a Kathy. Not a Faith (who would make a great bachelorette). Not a Susan. Not a Leslie. Definitely not a Nancy (too East Coast for a mid-westerns aw-shucks kind of guy). Definitely not a Joan (also too young and too East Coast).

I'm not sure why. Ellen is just as attractive as Theresa. The difference is, Ellen is divorced after 25 years of marriage, and Theresa lost her high school sweetheart spouse to kidney failure. Gerry probably feels like he can relate the most to Theresa.
