New VA trans policies for schools

^Yes. Why are we even having this discussion here. Superintendents and politicians are not deciding what happens I competitive sports. The governing bodies of each organization are.

Can we stop with the unnecessary red herrings here.

Duran is contradicting Title IX by keeping trans girls on women's teams. Competitive girl athletes know this although mostly they don't complain about it. That's starting to change though as more trans girl athletes win.

Why is the right only interested in trans women playing in women's sports. Trans men play in men's sports too. Of course I guess it's not that out of pocket for the right to be more threatened by trans women then trans men. It's pretty on par for then to only care about regulating and punishing women.

Keeping transwomen out of women's sports is actually supporting women.

Transmen that take testosterone are doping when I comes to sports and would be cheating.

Keeping males out of women's sports is not punishment, but basic biological reality. No one is stopping them from joining the men's team.

Choices have consequences. You are welcome to transition, but you cannot hurt women in order to fulfill your need for validation.

Again. This is about grade school.

It's mostly middle school and high school.

I'm sure as F going to be that accepting adult without hesitation. It's quite literally the least I can do.

People can’t simultaneously argue that all the child is asking for is to be called something different while also saying if the child isn’t called by their preferred pronouns/names there is a high chance of suicide. Either it is consequential (ie if we don’t call a child by this name or use this pronoun it may adversely affect the child’s mental health and possibly lead to suicide) or it’s just like any other nickname chance and hence inconsequential. If it’s consequential then parents should know. Simple as that.

Do you even have children or are you just bored?

Clearly you can’t address my point so you decided to just dismiss who I am as a person.

Why don’t you start calling your cis child by the wrong name for a month and let us know how that goes.

Come back when you call Sue Joe for a few years and let me know if she is suicidal.

Ugly

My kid is emotionally stable and secure enough that he would just roll his eyes and ignore me, not commit suicide.
Emotional blackmail to get your way is not helping anyone. Maybe you should work on that with your kid.

Make sure you also choose every aspect of his existence. Put him in a bra, make him wear femme clothes, paint his nails, do not allow him to stand up to use the bathroom, make she he only uses the girls toilets. Do not allow him to speak to adults independently about his experience. Tell him he is imagining his experience being a boy. Force him to agree with you. Do not relent. Shame him if he even remotely pushes back or veers off course. Tell no one to believe him because you know better because you are his parent. Rinse repeat for years until he breaks down in some way or leaves home to break free.

LOL, no. He would get the mental health required to get through this phase and trend. Just like if my daughter was anorexic, I wouldn't tell her she was fat to make her dreams come true.
Being a parent is tough work and shutting down drama and trends is the best way to get them into adulthood.

Because their girls are getting beaten by the trans-girls and not getting the scholarships they think their daughter is entitled to; whereas, trans-boys aren't out-competing the cis-boys....

I guess people on the left are happy when their daughters lose to trans girl athletes? How egalitarian of them.

Well 1) trans athletes make up a very small percentage of athletes so the likelihood that this will make a huge difference in their lives is very small and 2) there is always going to be someone better whether it's based on height, or private coaching, or the best equipment, or a lqrger wing span or a million other things. If my kid loses to a trans athlete then they lost because they weren't the better athlete for whatever reason.

It does not bother me. So my kid will be #2 instead of #1. Big whoop. And if my kid isn't number 2 then there are plenty of bio girls beating them.

Why have women’s sports at all in that case? There’s always someone better, right? Who cares if they’re almost all male? If your daughter can’t make the team because she got beat by all the boys, you could just tell her thems’ the breaks, right? What a valuable learning experience…

You sound very emotional.

Way to dodge the question. Why do women’s sports exist, if not to create a space for women to excel without being immediately out-competed by males?

You can’t reason with these people, they are captured by a cult.

Yes. The belief there is only a binary xx or xy is confounding many. It’s not accurate and simplistic.

Don't co-opt intersex to explain gender expansive, nonbinary, gender fluid, or trans gender. They are not the same issues at all.

Actually, they often are.

The only overlap is in Olympic sports. There's no overlap in names, pronouns, bathrooms, locker rooms, or high school team sports.

Trying to "medicalize" nonbinary or gender expansive is inaccurate and unhelpful.

Yes, they are. I had a student who was trans but also technically intersex. Many students who are trans also fall under the rest of the LGBTQ umbrella. These identities tend to intersect.

It is really annoying to have to fight these battles with parents who are so vocal about “my son would NEVER be trans!” - ok cool, then this doesn’t affect you at all. Why do you care so much about oppressing trans kids? Meanwhile parents of trans kids and teachers who actually teach the kids have to think about the REAL kids we know and care about who will be impacted by. And some mom whose two kids are not trans at all wants just as big a voice in the convo. It’s nuts.

Intersex conditions are rare. The current cohort of middle-schoolers who identify as trans are not intersex.

I didn’t say it was common. But it isn’t unheard of either. And you have absolutely no idea if any middle schooler in this country except your own is intersex.

The removal of sex-based protections for women impacts all women, regardless of whether they are trans or not.

I don’t think ordering teachers not to call a child a preferred name works on a practical level, and so I think that aspect of this is misguided, but I am also tired of the gaslighting about how this only impacts a few trans kids. That is also transparently not true.

My kid just finished high school and I found that parents care about boys in girls sports as soon as it will personally effect their kid. It’s fine in theory but as soon as it’s a reality for their daughter than suddenly it’s a safety issue.

I found mostly that this was true with all these policies - fine in theory and plenty of bragging about how fine they are with it but as soon as it’s a reality - not so fine.

This is what people with forethought have been saying for years now.
