VA Public Schools other than FCPS

^Yes. Why are we even having this discussion here. Superintendents and politicians are not deciding what happens I competitive sports. The governing bodies of each organization are.
Can we stop with the unnecessary red herrings here. |
It's mostly middle school and high school. |
LOL, no. He would get the mental health required to get through this phase and trend. Just like if my daughter was anorexic, I wouldn't tell her she was fat to make her dreams come true. Being a parent is tough work and shutting down drama and trends is the best way to get them into adulthood. |
Still not women’s sports. |
Phase and trend ? Wow. |
Actually, they often are. |
The only overlap is in Olympic sports. There's no overlap in names, pronouns, bathrooms, locker rooms, or high school team sports. Trying to "medicalize" nonbinary or gender expansive is inaccurate and unhelpful. |
Yes, they are. I had a student who was trans but also technically intersex. Many students who are trans also fall under the rest of the LGBTQ umbrella. These identities tend to intersect. It is really annoying to have to fight these battles with parents who are so vocal about “my son would NEVER be trans!” - ok cool, then this doesn’t affect you at all. Why do you care so much about oppressing trans kids? Meanwhile parents of trans kids and teachers who actually teach the kids have to think about the REAL kids we know and care about who will be impacted by. And some mom whose two kids are not trans at all wants just as big a voice in the convo. It’s nuts. |
Intersex conditions are rare. The current cohort of middle-schoolers who identify as trans are not intersex. |

I didn’t say it was common. But it isn’t unheard of either. And you have absolutely no idea if any middle schooler in this country except your own is intersex. |
The removal of sex-based protections for women impacts all women, regardless of whether they are trans or not. I don’t think ordering teachers not to call a child a preferred name works on a practical level, and so I think that aspect of this is misguided, but I am also tired of the gaslighting about how this only impacts a few trans kids. That is also transparently not true. |

My kid just finished high school and I found that parents care about boys in girls sports as soon as it will personally effect their kid. It’s fine in theory but as soon as it’s a reality for their daughter than suddenly it’s a safety issue.
I found mostly that this was true with all these policies - fine in theory and plenty of bragging about how fine they are with it but as soon as it’s a reality - not so fine. |

I will keep calling my kids by what they want to be called

This is what people with forethought have been saying for years now. |
