Cut cut cut. The Health and Human Services budget is 50% more than the defense budget and keeps growing. Put the brakes on it. |
Excellent. Kill all tax payer subsidies for clean energy. If it's important to you, you'll buy it as a consumer. If not, it goes away. And drop the "clean energy" monikers while you hate on everyone over corporate subsidies. Solar panels and EV batteries contain a lot of nasty chemicals and heavy metals and you never were happy about clean coal technology because it took one of your wedge issues away. I'm tired of the well-crafted lies by the Sierra Club and DNC. You want it, you pay for it and stop abusing working people. |
83% of the HHS budget is Medicare and Medicaid. Other parts are research (like cancer research). Here is a copy of the 2024 proposed budget. What specifically would you cut or would you just like it to be cuts across the board and at what percentage? Would you cut Medicare and Medicaid reimbursements or services? https://www.hhs.gov/sites/default/files/fy-2024-budget-in-brief.pdf |
Nonsense. Solar and battery technologies have been evolving by leaps and bounds, with all kinds of new materials overcoming the kinds of constraints you are concerned about. Meanwhile, there never was any such thing as "clean coal" and there's barely been any meaningful new breakthrough in fossil fuel in the last 50 years. |
10-15% cut of the overall HHS budget for the next 3 years. Heavy layoffs and whole departments gone. All those GS-14s and above get pushed to private industry. The days of hundred billion contracts to big pharma by .gov are over. Medicaid food delivery? No. The damn thing is gobbling up everything else. Many cabinets are like it. Dept of Agriculture is a front organization for food stamps and EBT. The dept of Energy produces no energy; it just attacks the energy industry. The Dept of Commerce does it's level best to make us uncompetitive globally with all its rules. This big govt leviathan is out of control, it's operated by an administrative state of unelected bueaucrats answerable to no one and it's off the rails. Look at the DOT and FEMA response to accidents. It's a travesty and their employees are very well paid. Govt fails us again and again and throwing good money after bad at it is not a fix. This country is going broke BECAUSE of Washington DC. The masterminds sitting there in their temperature controlled offices all day making proclamations from their ivory towers are our undoing. |
Absolute nonsense and totally ignorant of the history that got us here. For example, man-made disasters would be far more frequent and far more disastrous if we didn't have DOT and other regulators. We have a big EBT program because Republicans don't believe in paying living wages. It's absolutely astounding how some of you have been completely bamboozled by these utterly bogus narratives peddled by Steve Bannon and others, of the "administrative state" where you engage in deranged fantasies about rooms full of hundreds of "unelected bureaucrats" who are just sitting around with nothing better to do than trying to dream up all manner of fake new ways to screw good, patriotic American citizens and businesses over - when that is not at all the case. The way regulation happens is that it first starts with Congress. No regulation can even be passed without an relevant statute that governs it. And the legislation takes years and years and years to put in place. And even then it has to go through rounds of public comments and review which could take years more. Remember leaded gas? We KNEW it was harming children, for DECADES. Yet it took that long for Congress to act. Same with tobacco, we knew for YEARS it was bad, but couldn't do anything because industry fought every step of the way. Why do we have OSHA? Maybe you forgot about incidents like the Triangle Shirtwaist fire that killed workers because they were locked inside an unsafe, burning building. Or Love Canal? Well those are just examples. For each one of those examples, it takes hundreds more to get action, maybe you just aren't aware of them because they didn't get as much publicity, but they happened. And it takes DECADES to get action to deal with them. And meanwhile, companies get away scot free with dangerous working conditions, dangerous products, toxic pollutants, and everything else, often for years and years and years before anything ever gets done about it, causing countless deaths, injury and other damage along the way. When I hear stupid comments like yours above it tells me you don't have the faintest idea of what you're actually talking about. |
A big chunk of debt came from massive tax cuts for the rich and big corporations. Those need to be rolled back.
It's bizarre that Republicans seem to think the debt is entirely because of spending and refuse to acknowledge that their own tax cuts added trillions to the debt. |
BraVO!! Said well |
Exactly right. And the response by the Dems is to throw the doors open to everyone, which creates more of a need for food stamps, EBT, and forces low income Americans to compete for the same jobs. |
No debt came from tax cuts. All debt is created by demanding things the federal govt is not chartered to do. That charter is found in the U.S. Constitution. That is its only purpose. No more, no less. |
Really? Because last I checked, 91% of lithium comes from Australia, Chile and Argentina. Cobalt is at 70% from outside the USA. www.energy.gov Don't yammer on about new materials. Tell us about VIABLE replacements in the future. |
