No one asked (this is a DC forum: create your own for MD clubs if you insist on beating this horse). Since you did, you’ve cited four players who couldn’t make / weren’t on a Capital track. Good for them. Happy for ‘em. Many more DMVers having tremendous success going to top academic / lax programs.

They are local/DC/DMV girls who happen to play for MD Clubs. Seems to me like they fit the criteria.

They would definitely make Capital as well, that's a fact. There's a reason Capital isn't beating those teams. Sorry Capital groupies, the recruiting is doing just fine on the Maryland side.

And that reason is because Capital has equal rotations compared to Md clubs which rarely take their starters off the field. That’s the edge. Capital still competes under these terms.

My DD plays for one of the big MD A teams. We've always had fairly even playing time across the team. Maybe we're just lucky, but it was never a problem pre-high school or now in HS...

Not all maryland clubs do this - they understand it is showcase situation also - just saying this over and over does not make it true (others have already pointed this out, but yet same poster keeps repeating this).

Have seen first hand when Hero’s / M&D / SW leave their starters in and only take them off when games are well in hand. Continually denying it doesn’t mean it does not happen. It’s smart coaching for sure, and results in more wins, but it doesn’t benefit the majority of the players.

So that list kind of goes against the general Capital concept of targeting the high academic programs? Lots of commits but not many high academics.
Anonymous
you are insane, that list is loaded with high academics, especially when COVID continues to rock these young ladies with hugely impacted admission standards.

Penn, Vandy, Princeton, UVA are elite the rest are great schools. Fairfield, Uconn, JMU, all of them are great options to get a degree AND play the sport. There are elite diplomas and schools within each of these programs. No doubt.

I’m so sorry that my public school daughter picked the school that she liked the most instead of her meeting your needs of committing to an Ivy school? Get real. Capital wants their players to go to the school that they want to attend. In the past, yes, it may have been all ivies, but there are a lot more options out there and my poor little public school monies can only go so far

By the way, I’m just poking fun, so don’t get all offended. But it really does come down to affordability for many. It is not longer that rich sport for everyone. Sometimes even the po people come out to play

so the list of commits is only kids from DC area, what exactly is the point of that? Obviously the local club (Capital) is going to look the best as they have the most local girls.

Why not show the club commits regardless of the kids zip code?

I’m going with, because this is a DC forum. This is not a Maryland Forum. Just off the top of my head.

If we wanted to track all of them, we would be taking about 50% off all the commits out there

First congrats to your daughter, big accomplishment regardless of school! Second, I don’t think it was intended as knock on any of the girls. More of an observation compared to Capital’s prior years and often-stated goal of high academic schools.

Most of these girls do not play in DC. DC is very small. Should we only talk about players that play in the actual city then? No Virginia or Maryland?
