But those who were already inclined to put ta thumb on the scale to give their kids a leg up especially... |
Not really. We answered no for our kid. |
It's a crime to lie on a free and reduced meal application |
What FARMS form are you referring to? A letter sent from a government agency verifying FARMS eligibility? There's not a form that one can simply fill out willy-nilly. |
enough is enough. I don't like TJ anymore. |
Exactly. This is now getting ridiculous. People are going any lengths to justify how their kid didn’t get in & how only cheaters got in. TJ is now doing whatever they can to verify the information. You got what you wanted. Verification of low income and its being done. Now just wait and watch. What are you going to do about how there was no proctoring? Many kids/parents may have cheated. Who knows. |
They're expecting proof of eligibility for free meals by June 10. Even if one was willing to lie on an application and risk being convicted of a federal crime, submitting an application this week won't achieve that, since the application needs to be reviewed and approved and that doesn't happen instantly. |
How do you know what the deriver of the Mercedes was doing at school? Did they announce that they were dropping off a FARMS application and you just happened to be there? Or are you suggesting that you work at the school? If the latter, surely you will ensure that the application is properly reviewed and is only approved if the family is indeed eligible, right? |
Or, indeed, is this all just made up completely for an anonymous forum? |
It is a race to the bottom. I am poor. No me, I am oppressed. No me. We were taught the way to get out of poverty and bad circumstance was to work hard and persevere. Not beg for freebies. Such an utter sham and destruction of value. |
Considering how heavily the essays are weighted, this is the most worrisome aspect of the application. Parents or tutors could have written the essays or heavily proofread. Kids could have been chatting about the problem solving essay on discord while the essay was happening. Kids who took the test on the make up date most likely already knew the test questions beforehand. All of this is combined with pandemic inflated GPAs, that also may have been the result of cheating during distance learning. |
Actually removing people who lied and claimed they were low-income to give their kids an advantage is an improvement. For months there have been many concerns posted about this. No idea if this is a real problem but at least now we can put any doubts to bed. |
If they prepared for essays, that means they are serious with the opportunity studying in TJ. Nothing to blame. Students also prepare essays for their university applications. I didn't spend efforts with my child's essay. I wish I had. |
Preparing for the essays with the info given by the admissions office is fine. Bringing in notes and/or contacting others during/after the essay is not fine. |
