Also, abortion has been basically illegal in Texas since September. Where are the stories of coat hangers and women dying and rape victims giving birth? I haven’t read any. Maybe this won’t be so bad. Maybe (gasp) most people are actually fine with this or they’ll figure out how to go to California or New York if they need to. The lack of Texas horror stories is telling. Maybe this isn’t the emergency liberals scream about. Makes you think.

Can I make you think about specifically which times in the last fifty years that the House had a liberal Democratic majority with enough votes to pass something like this, while simultaneously also having a 60-vote filibuster-proof majority to pass it on the Senate side, with a conference committee in agreement? Fill me in.

Oh please, he can just issue another idiotic executive decision, like he does w everything else.

DP. Dear lord, are you really that effing stupid?

This *should* pave the way for independents to side with the Dems in 2022 to keep the GOP-Taliban at bay.

The time has come to pack the court.

The courts are already packed and the dems have no will to change it. Everyone has known for decades that the republicans were packing the courts…and what did anyone do about it?

I don’t know how you can be so confident. I’ve thought this so many times over the last 5 years and it never proves to be true.

I bet they will win more seats. Republicans strip voting rights from black. Dems do nothing, republicans with more seats. Republicans outlaw abortion. Dems do nothing, republicans most likely win more seats. The funny thing is republicans win more seats with less and less percentage of the vote…and dems do nothing. This is a failure of the dems all those old men and women in the senate and house. They will say oh we can not do anything because we only have 50 votes. Oh the moderates! If they had 75 vote they would say they need more senators before they can do anything. Meanwhile the republicans continue to get results by whatever means. Does not look good for the country. I am sick and tired of the right wing always setting the terms of what can and can not get done.

There are obviously always going to be issues with this, but you have no idea about what has been transpiring over the last few years.

What planet are you on?

The planet that elected Trump and all that he begot.

Exactly! Sorry guys, I’m a liberal dem. Used to be deeply involved in abortion rights. But I’m just sick of it. Y’all didn’t make it happen for Hillary. So this is what happens. Wake the F up. Even if you did vote for Hillary…if you’re white…I Fing guarantee you that you have family that voted for Trump. Get your house in order or STFU.

Yeah this is kind of where I’m at too.

WTF. I am a White woman (surburban! SAHM, too!) and I have NEVER voted for a fascist gooper in my life. You think I can control how my father and uncles voted? After about twelve of us ganged up on them, we got some to abstain from voting; I consider that a win.

+1 My former GOP convention attending delegate dad wrote in Paul Ryan in 2016 and I considered that a victory.

You guys who actually stopped horrifying men from voting for Trump are getting all offended. You did the right thing - good on you!

It was the “get your house in order or STFU” that’s offensive. You think we don’t try? You think it’s actually in our control? There’s a limit to what we can do; 70+ years of propaganda is hard to fix.

That said, f the GOP and anyone who votes for them.

OK, I’m sorry - look I am pissed too (as much as I say I’m over it). But I assure you, most white women aren’t doing nearly enough to try to change hearts and minds in their own families. THink about it - if you can’t convince those people to respect you…that’s pretty bad…

Tell us what you did to change your family's opinion about a serious political issue. And why aren't you just as scathing on white men for doing enough to change the hearts and minds in their own families?

I literally talked to my parents for 10 consecutive years (age 13-23) to turn them from republicans into democrats. It’s a long game, but it worked. I talked about women’s rights and rights of other minorities. I mean, it did help me that the GOP became just true monsters during that time (started w/ pointless invasion of Iraq).

I would say the same to liberal white men. They are much rarer. That’s the issue. And honestly, statistically we know that each group really has to sort of fight for its own rights. It shouldn’t be this way, but in reality it is.

My entire extended family is pro-chioice.

I’m looking into dual citizenship. I think we qualify but I never took it seriously.

So you are saying the democrats will never have enough votes to pass anything. Lol the filibuster…the good old filibuster. Oh we have to keep the filibuster! All the moderates like yourself agree otherwise …what? The republicans will outlaw abortion! 51 votes is all a party needs to pass a bill out of the senate. Because of the structure of the senate(small rural states having two senators) you will never have 60 votes and ever democrat known this. For the democrats to pass anything in reality they will need 67 senators because Manchin and company will never vote for the dems.

Be prepared to pay for child support for 18 years.

Plus more wives will die, if they have medical problems in childbirth. It's like they don't care or don't think it will happen to them.

This will only affect poor women, especially those of color.

This is what the conservatives want right?

More people on welfare! Hooray!

No, what conservatives want is more dead Black women.

As a black man who is a conservative, when I read white people write stuff like this anonymously it makes me uncomfortable.

Hi, welcome to the political forum, maybe learn about the filibuster.

Has there never been a time when D’s could have passed a law? That can’t be true.

There were two months between when Al Franken was finally seated and when Ted Kennedy had to step down due to brain cancer, so pardon us for not solving every effing problem that the Republicans have caused since 1980 during that time.

THE DEMOCRATS DON’T HAVE A FILIBUSTER-PROOF MAJORITY TO “PACK THE COURT.” But President Biden has confirmed 59 Federal Judges so far. More than any other President in that amount of time since 1962.
