CNN Special - Moms who voted for Biden explain why they voted for a Republican(Youngkin) in Virginia

Anonymous
Of course Terry can’t relate— people who can shell out bucks for private school got open schools earlier. He never was at the mercy of government schools and couldn’t even pretend to care about people who are.

Youngkin did a better job (maybe he has friends and neighbors with children on public) or may in fact be faking it, but I don’t care as long as he acts right.

Moore, a proponent of supply-side economics, also helped shape a set of deep tax cuts that former Kansas Gov. Sam Brownback implemented in 2013, promising a host of benefits for the state's economy. The cuts quickly devastated Kansas' budget, and the legislature overturned them in 2017."

The guy behind the Kansas tax cuts? That's scary.

And the cognitive dissonance is insane.

They want the governor to micromanage school districts and implement MORE regulations but... also don't want mandates.

McAuliffe was going to micromanage school boundaries and local zoning.

If Youngkin merely sets powers back to February 2020 it’s a win for local parental freedom influence.

So you don't want Youngkin to micromanage? Make up your mind.

You don’t get it do you? We voted for Youngkin because he is for parents, not the government, leading the schools

What do you think that means? What is actually going to change if "parents are leading the schools"? How specifically will that work?

+1. Which parents get to lead the schools? The white, blond Christians? Black parents? Muslim parents? Gay parents?

They were too busy on Newsmax.

Keep pushing that narrative, hon.

How many times has she been on Newsmax and FoxNews? I’ve lost count.

Who cares? She's right. I've never seen Newsmax before, so thanks for drawing our attention to this. Asra Nomani is a hero.

+ 1 the original impetus for Youngkin among local parents started last year with the dismantling of TJ and AAP, the very clear VADOE Secretary and staff attempts to dismantle tracks to upper level math and the plan to group all levels of math students in a grade in the same class up through grade 9 (IIRC) in the name of equity, the excessive contracts that the oppressively Democratic school board paid out regarding social emotional learning and privilege, and the narrow focus on school renaming rather than learning. Families across nationalities, backgrounds and political parties were against these actions.

Exactly this.

Who doesn’t have a diverse group?

CNN

CNN has an agenda, through and through. They want everyone to think it’s White women who support Republicans. It’s their narrative. They don’t want to talk about the plethora of women of other races (me included) who are turned off by the ridiculous rhetoric of the current Democratic Party.

THIS. Could they be any more obvious? There are SO MANY POC who voted for Youngkin. And the posters who claim a vote for Youngkin is a vote against "equality" just sound like morons. Not one person has been able to cough up any examples of Youngkin being "against equality." It is utterly absurd to even suggest it.

CNN has become so obviously biased that it can no longer be considered journalism, but rather: leftist propaganda.

So much of the media has become leftist propaganda, unfortunately. I know the right-wingers have Fox, but the media as a whole, definitely leans very far left.

I truly wish there were some less bias sources, but for now, so just read the news from both sides and assume the truth lies somewhere in the middle.

Yup. I read AP News and Reuters. Plus, supplement with BBC, WSJ. I also listen a variety of podcasts but those aren't "news" - Freakonomics, NPR - planet money, here & now (which I find very balanced).

I don't watch TV news except for election/disaster coverage. Very rarely.

They are little Karens whose hysteria led to the school closings they are now supposedly upset about.
Notice how they complain about Obama's coming in and saying CRT is fake. Why does this bother them if they were voting based on school closings?
What happened is they don't want to be called racist for opposing CRT in schools, and don't want to be like those Trumpys they loathe, so they latched onto the safe explanation of they voted Youngkin because of school closings.
It is similar to how some people in 2016 said they were voting for Trump because they like his kids.

Wow. Can someone say "LWNJ"?

Yep. From Terry's website. He might as well skip all the words and just say he would advocate busing:

Address Modern-Day Segregation in our Schools. While we have worked hard to
improve equitable access to education in Virginia, the numbers are clear and racial
segregation in our schools is getting worse not better. In fact, nearly 17% of Black
students in Virginia attended schools where at least 90% of their classmates were
students of color in 2018-2019, a 4% increase from 2003-2004.6 Students of color are
also more likely to attend schools with high poverty rates and with little access to
challenging coursework We must tackle this issue head on by examining the factors
leading to segregation and aggressively implement policies that will promote integration.

That includes creating a school integration officer within the Virginia Department of
Education, reviewing how diversity factors into school accreditation standards,
incentivizing localities to implement integration strategies and working with developers
to drastically improve access to affordable housing so that families can locate in areas
with high-performing schools.

It is school, just not the CRT stuff or vaccine or mask mandates. They’re angry that schools stayed closed for as long as they did and that the Democrats seemed dismissive of parents’ concerns about the resulting disruption and learning loss. I certainly understand their concerns but they do come off a bit self centered… like all that matters is them and their family, not the healthcare workers or teachers or the medically vulnerable. I think Democrats’ biggest mistake wasn’t necessarily closing schools, but for not showing more concern about the fallout now. Terry couldn’t even manage to fake it. He just didn’t connect with suburban women as much as he needed to.

Yes, we all know this is why Youngkin won suburban moms who previously voted Democratic. Why is this such big news to this Pamela lady? Everybody else knew this.

McAuliffe was just a boring, uninspiring candidate. If we'd had someone young, fresh, more progressive, they would have won.

You still don't seem to get it. There is now a backlash to your "progressive" movement. It's not selling.

+1 I don't want someone progressive anything. I want someone under 60, sane, fiscally smart and not morally repugnant. Youngkin fit that metric but I would have voted for a Democrat had that choice been available.

Ha, ha - I guess he was fiscally smart enough to buy an election. You don't think that's a tad morally repugnant? That's his ONLY qualification. It's anyone's guess how he will govern.

Maybe since Terry lost he can spend his time working to aggressively integrate Langley HS. We’ll wait.

Newsmax is FoxNews Gone Wild.

She’s a Trumphumper who worked hard to get her Trumpy candidate elected.

Well, he is a parent there and Youngkin said he would let parents control schools so…

Based right here in NoVa. They also infiltrated the TJ PTSA.

While they are drawn by the anger of parents opposed to school policies on racial history or COVID-19 protocols like mask mandates, the groups are often run by political operatives and lawyers standing ready to amplify local disputes.”

Among those is Parents Defending Education, an Arlington, Virginia-based group formed in January and dedicated to “fighting indoctrination in the classroom.” It provides templates for requesting public records, a guide to parent rights, organizing strategies and talking points.
