Lol. Why? If there is anyone convinced of the perfection of the ECNL it is probably that guy.

Because he’s the only one that can do it. Unless, you would like to vent to us.

There is a very specific reason why it counts.

National playoffs are based on national standings.

During a showcase, you are playing teams from other divisions with similar winning percentages….it creates an equalizer

There are 5 playoff brackets
Top 30 teams in the nation are champions
Next 16 are North American Cup
Next 16 are showcase A
Next 16 are showcase B
Next is everyone else on Open

.showcases are the only chance you get to play teams outside of your division which allows which assist la in national rankings…this ensure competitive games for the college coaches when making brackets

Long story short…you can not properly ranking teams nationally for playoffs if all they do it play regionally.

Take football for example…Year after year teams get over ranked because they have winning records in weak divisions just to get thumped on the nationally playoffs.

Notes Dame is a great example.

Just look at the top 100 girls soccer rankings…..sorry…but it’s BS.

Worrying so much about the rankings is silly.

The difference between teams at this level is not best categorized by such a ranking is useless. There is such a gradient between teams that ultimately the best way is to simply categorize teams into tiers. The difference between teams in the "top 5" is a world away from a team ranked, say 20th.

There is just no real way to have enough head to head competitions to to draw any precise ranking but teams can be accurately tiered.

But so what really. The silly national playoff should drive the bus? That is prioritizing the wrong thing which is getting the kids recruited. Do that for u16 and under if you must but leave the U17 and up out of that.

32 teams are champions league... 8 groups of 4 teams. The winners of each bracket play in the 4th day and the final four teams play in Richmond couple weeks later.

Champions league is settled. This is a Showcase for girls who aren't committed, which for U15, is all. From U15, it gets larger the number who are committed, but by no means is it a majority at this point, especially post-covid recruitment season.

ECNL got it dead right here. A showcase in NC (out of NJ with odd rules still unsure about masks/distancing) going into playoffs weeks later. Showcase before a tournament is excellent planning. If your kid is in the Champions League, the # of scouts looking will be the most all year by a million miles.... huge. If you are poo-pooing this you have no idea or you're just trolling.

Can u read? I said have at it for U 15 if you want. It is not helpful for the kids that need to get recruited now. Have a real showcase for the older players to play for the coaches. At a minimum do east and west events...and 4 quadrants would make more sense.

Some mid level patriot league program where 90 percent of the kids are from within a few states over need to drag everyone out to california or florida to recruit? it is stupid.

The top kids that want to play for the top D1 programs are already recruited by U 17 so do something that helps the majority that are financing all this.
