Sorry - you'll have to keep waiting as I'm a different poster. Just responding to correct the wrong info up-thread. |
Buddy I don't know what your coach is going to do, that is for you to ask. All I can say is that you have known for a while that your kid is either not a starter on this team or is new to this team and in a Covid year I have some sympathy for your kid and others who are uncommitted under the worst of circumstances. But regardless of all of that, your coach will either do what is right for all the players or not. If not, one would hope that you tell the world who the coach was who sat uncommitted players in favor of committed players in a showcase. But, this is not ECNL's fault. Your kid and you have had four years to become or find a place to be a impact player. Did you plan on Covid? No, but you have known for some time now who and what your player is and you can't cry about it now. Talk to your coach or shut up. |
| Is your coach bringing the committed players to this event or are they skipping it? It is a simple question. |
College coaches most likely still have to see committed players |
|
By the way, coaches also come to showcases to check in on their recruits - kids who have committed but not yet signed. The tryout has just begun when you're verbally committed. Not because college coaches are in the habit of yanking offers, but because they want to verify what they've selected, think about what skills/strengths that player brings to the table, see how they're developing, think about how they'll use them on the roster, etc. My daughter's coach came to see her play after she committed and I think it was more than a friendly show of support.
So...there is a reason for committed players to go to and play in showcases. |
Yep, important to watch those commits they haven’t seen for months. |
What if the committed player helps the team play good soccer/ makes other players look better. Can see both sides of this one. Solution is start the uncommitted players and sub in committed? |
|
And why make the committed players go through all the expenses and time suck when there are uncommitted players already spending the time and money that need to be seen. Yes the committed players are strong and thry will of course go if they must but would rather not. All the uncommitted players are very good.
It makes no sense to me. Travel right now is actually expensive with air tickets and rental cars really steep. |
To be clear..the players want to all go of course..they have a blast...but the parents are tapped out after this year..not the time for unneeded expenses. |
From going to all of the nationals showcases that were cancelled? Smh. Tapped out? Lol |
| Ummm... From the pandemic..remember that? The deaths, the illnesses the disruptions to schooling, careers, etc. Good for you if your family has not suffered any difficulty but so many have. |
+1 Tough year for many |
They can say no. Just stop |
Someone is very touchy about discussing this event. |
