+1 I think the OP is mayor's PR flak showed up. DC is well behind MD and VA in vaccinations, and I'm sure the DC number remains high because MD and VA have been vaccinating so many DC residents. |
Yeah it was super transparent that someone associated with the mayor posted this thread. So sad |
| So many people in DC just gave up at the mayor and council’s incompetence and just went to Maryland as soon as they were eligible. |
| I can't believe we are giving kudos to DC because any resident with a car / wherewithal is fleeing to MD to get vaccinated. Almost feels like that was DCs "strategy" in the 1st place. |
+1. Watch and Bowser will somehow take credit for all of the dc residents that scoured the area and got vaccinated in other states. She is vaccinating ONLY who she deems is deserving of it. Evidence: Giant no longer requesting vaccines in DC since Bowser won’t let them run their own appointment schedules. She and her band of other unqualified, incompetents want to maintain control. |
I am the OP. I have nothing to do with the mayor’s office. I was genuinely impressed with the quick turnaround for DC. Because I had been watching the stats very closely and the momentum changed. |
| DC is a disaster. I am 64, being treated for cancer and STILL waiting to be randomly selected for a vaccine in the city I’ve lived in for 30 years. I finally gave up and went to Maryland. Am eager to see when I finally get an email from DC vaccine saying I can make an appointment. Will likely be never. So frustrating. And to open up to all seems crazy when priority groups are still trying to get an appointment. |
And you came back to admit that? The job done in DC has been abysmal. |
Silverman did just that on Twitter. At first she was all butt hurt about residents going out of town for vaccines. Then she changed her tune and says that because all allotments are from the Federal government, DC gets credit for wherever a resident gets their federal vaccine, whether in DC or elsewhere. |
If you are being treated for cancer, you should have heard from your attending medical facility months ago. Give them a call. |
Forget the phone and go get the shot in Maryland tomorrow! From the other thread about vaccines in DC: According to Maryland Vaccine Hunters, DC residents and walk up's (no appointment necessary) are accepted at these vaccine sites in Maryland: Salisbury - J&J shot. Located at at the Wicomico Youth & Civic Center on Glen Ave. Park and walk in. Hagerstown - J&J shot. Take Exit 28 off of I-70, follow the signs, park and walk in. M&T Bank Stadium, Baltimore - Pfizer shot. 200 walk up's a day. 10am-2pm seven days a week, except when the Orioles play a home game. Get in line by 8:30-9am. 1101 Russell Street, Park in Lot B and enter stadium through Gate A. Six Flags - Pfizer shot. 13710 Central Ave, Bowie. No one turned away as of April 11. Hours 9am-4pm. Ignore electronic sign that says appointments required. Stay in your car and follow directions to drive through. |
| Apparently 1,000 vaccines went unused at DCs mass vax clinic yesterday that wasn;t publicized. |
|
Also FEMA Greenbelt site- register at massvax and pick that site.
Costco |
It’s disgusting that DC residents are getting the vaccine in MD. DC gov’t had a horrible roll-out, but there is no honor among thieves, and stealing vaccines from MD residents is appalling. |
It’s a FEMA site for people who live/work in MD. Not DC residents who don’t work in MD. |
