you must think that everyone gets a trophy for participating. There isn't that many "elite" teams and also this does is water down the league so it will be a bigger ccl.

Huh? You must not know geography. This isn't adding another northern virginia team and diluting talent. There might be a kid or two Charlottesville kids that travel to join Richmond, but not many. Skyline has decent teams. Not really sure what you are talking about.

I know my geography. It's like CCL but a bigger scale. Crappy teams still play CCL 1 because you have to have a team in the top division. BRYC is one example. Not drawing in the players for whatever reason, but they continue to play ECNL. They're not moving them out to ECNL-R where they probably are better off. And yes i believe that NOVA parents believe all their kids should be playing at an "elite" level. So there is a dilution of talent.

ECNL is the "it" league for the moment. That will change, it might take three or four years, but it will happen. If you don't believe me, look back at the posts from 2017 and see what leagues people were talking about.

Wait, so now that you do know where Charlottesville is located and that it isn’t part of NOVA, what are you complaining about? Skyline joining ECNL is bad for who exactly?

Bad for ECNL. A weak club

Boys ECNL, a weak league.

I agree BRYC is weak. Skyline is significantly better than BRYC. I would say that Skyline boys are better than all of BRYC, McLean and Loudoun. They are not as good as Arlington or Richmond.

So they may not be ECNL quality - whatever that is - but they are better than plenty of local ECNL clubs.

Are they better than VDA?

Not sure. That's the one where I didn't feel comfortable saying one was better than the other. My guess is that VDA probably has the edge overall - but in some age groups - 05 for example - Skyline are definitely better.

Skyline FC (SOCA) 04 girls were ranked #1 in VA and got handled by local ECNL teams. Don't put to much thought into it.

The youthsoccerrankings (the ones posted above) are not based on tournaments - they're based on all games played including league play. They're not perfect - no ranking system is - but they are way, way better than gotsoccer and others. They do still struggle to get the relative rankings of different leagues correct where there aren't too many games played teams from between the different leagues. So they used to overrank ECNL and CCL clubs wrt to the ex-DA clubs for example.

So - yes - Skyline may be a little over-rated by YSR compared to some of the other clubs - but it's not completely out of line. And - from my watching games - I would say that Skyline are definitely better than plenty of ECNL clubs an a number of age groups.

Sure. But when they faced other ECNL/ GA teams they got beat up. We don’t like scrimmages on DCUM, but; when they played them thee did not do well. Will they step up and get more competitive?

For the purposes of this discussion, obviously only boys are relevant since only the boys are joining ECNL. They're a bit far way for scrimmages and I'm not aware that the NoVA clubs scrimmage them often or even at all. I'm willing to be corrected - but can you provide opponents and scores?

However, they do face ECNL teams fairly regularly in tournament and showcase play, which - as you suggest - are presumably better indicators than scrinmmages in any case. Here is what I could find - sticking to games over the last twelve months:

U18
I couldn't find any results against ECNL teams.

U17
vs VDA 1-1 (6/16 in ECNL league)
vs McLean 1-1 (2/16 in ECNL league)
vs Arlington 5-4 (11/16 in ECNL league)

U16

vs VDA 1-0 (11/16 in ECNL league)
vs BRYC 1-0 (12/16 in ECNL league)
vs NCFC 1-4 (4/16 in ECNL league)

U15
vs NCFC 1-4 (4/16 in ECNL league)
vs Baltimore Celtic 2-0 (6/10 in ECNL league)
vs Richmond United 4-0 (1/16 in ECNL league)
vs McLean 5-0 (10/16 in ECNL league)
vs NCFC Youth 3-2 (6/16 in ECNL league)
vs Manhattan Wolves ECNL 5-2 (4/9 in ECNL league)
vs Ohio Premier ECNL 6-1 (1/7 in ECNL league)
vs McLean 5-0 (10/16 in ECNL league)
vs Arlington 2-3 (2/16 in ECNL league)

U14
vs Richmond United 0-6 (4/16 in ECNL)
vs Charlotte SA 0-4 (6/16 in ECNL)
vs Richmond United 4-0 (4/16 in ECNL)

U13
Couldn't find any results.

So overall that's a 12-5-2 record against ECNL teams with all of the losses coming against ex-DA teams. Looks like they're more than good enough to me.

Are the ECNL teams or Teams at ECNL clubs. One is A team. The other B. Just curious.

Nicely done. Agreed.

Guess that’s why they got ECNL. Maybe they can get their girls up to speed next.

No. The McLean boys have one good age group (2004).

Are they having tryouts?
