Why? They have early voting in GA. Surely, they can find a time that works for them. https://georgia.gov/early-voting |
Sadly, though, Georgia and other states have really devoted quite a bit of effort to closing polling places. I’m sure it’s just a coincidence that this is disproportionately happening in areas with higher percentages of Black voters and potential voters. Through cutting polling places, limited transportation options, and, yes, lines, I guess they really plan to show that Ms Abrams what’s what. States rights..... same old same old. Sigh. https://www.governing.com/archive/sl-polling-place-close-ahead-of-november-elections-black-voters.html |
Local officials are responsible for polling places..

That post doesn’t tweak your irony bone? Just a little? 🤣 |
Much of Georgia does not have great public transportation, and some areas have none at all. How are poor people without transportation going to get to the polls? |
Same way they get to the market or to church or to any of the other places they go during their life. I am sure Stacey Abrams' group has transportation available. If they want to vote, they'll get to the polls. I think you underestimate the resourcefulness of poor people. |
Sure won’t. |
Biden certainly does if you listened to his Town Hall. And, the part about not having access to ID is ridiculous. |
Have you tried to get an ID lately? It's not easy. You need a lot of paperwork that the poor or homeless or elderly won't have. And with covid, there are months long waiting times. I have to renew in May. In December I logged in to get an appointment... None available until the end of May. |
+1. Rightfully so. |
Where in the constitution does it say only the resourceful can vote? I must've missed that part. |
This is gonna backfire hugely on the republicans.
People take their vote for granted, until it’s taken away. This will motivate democratic base. |
Where in the constitution does it say that state legislatures determine how voting occurs in their state? Oh. That would be Article I Section. 4. The Times, Places and Manner of holding Elections for Senators and Representatives, shall be prescribed in each State by the Legislature thereof |
Won’t happen. |
I see nothing about courts in there. Hmmmm....Guess Navarro is onto something. |
