Explain me the senate power sharing impasse

I think the House is more in jeopardy than the Senate. NC, PA and now Ohio are losing GOP incumbents and are up for grabs.

Senator Schumer’s doing his high-pitched whine to that Maddow woman. He says we will not let Mitch McConnell dictate to us, and these first five days show that.

Um, the first five days show that indeed Mitch McConnell DOES dictate .

This didn't age well.

In other words, McConnell caved. If he’s relying on two Democratic Senators not to vote for removal of the filibuster, then he’s a fool - and he’s not a fool. Either Schumer or McConnell or more likely both have something up their sleeves.

McConnell will use the filibuster as much as he can, but not so much as to anger Manchin and Sinema.

Why would he care about angering them or not?

Mancin and Sinema will be able to tell their constituents that they tried, but Mitch was obstinate and by the fall, there will be no more filibuster.

McConnell is using this to save face because he failed.

Dems need Manchin and Sinema to get anything passed, so they will serve as a check on the progressive wing of the party by forcing them to support more moderate legislation. But if Manchin and Sinema feel like McConnell is going to far to block even moderate legislation, they might throw in with the rest of the Dems to get rid of the filibuster.

Both Manchin and Sinema are part of a bipartisan group that want to get the Senate moving again. If this group wants something to pass, McConnell has to let it through or Manchin and Sinema could change their mind. At least that's how I read it.

McConnell overplayed his hand. He’s used to Dems in Disarray and cowering to power. Nothing like a little insurrection facilitated by your own colleagues to get the Dems to now play hardball. I like these Dems with their new found courage and willingness to wield power.

Look, this is very simple. David Perdue won the election on November 4. But due to a weird quirk in Georgia, he was forced into a runoff. Then that Stacey Abrams woman took advantage and overwhelmed Georgia’s election security apparatus and stole Perdue’s seat. THAT’S why there’s an artificial 50-50 split.

So Senator McConnell is fighting fire with fire. He owes it to David Perdue and the rest of the party.

He knows the media is desperate to call Biden a success for sending checks to voters and juicing the economy. For running the economy on a giant credit card.

But Senator McConnell can stop the Democrat Party in their tracks by stopping them from organizing. That’s why he’s filibustering the organizing resolution. He knows Schumer’s weakness and the Democrat Party’s illegitimacy. He knows Biden will be blamed when nothing happens. He knows an economic rebound depression will flip both houses of Congress .

There won’t be an organizing resolution this Congress; Democrats are far too weak . There won’t be any Democrat chairs . The Biden Administration will be strangled in infancy. And they’ll all get voted out in 22 and then in 24.

Thank you for the explanation. I *thought* this is what was happening, but wasn’t sure.
