[twitter]https://twitter.com/mkraju/status/1353888894241140739?s=20[/twitter]
In other words, McConnell caved. If he’s relying on two Democratic Senators not to vote for removal of the filibuster, then he’s a fool - and he’s not a fool. Either Schumer or McConnell or more likely both have something up their sleeves.
McConnell will use the filibuster as much as he can, but not so much as to anger Manchin and Sinema.
Why would he care about angering them or not?
Both Manchin and Sinema are part of a bipartisan group that want to get the Senate moving again. If this group wants something to pass, McConnell has to let it through or Manchin and Sinema could change their mind. At least that's how I read it.
McConnell overplayed his hand. He’s used to Dems in Disarray and cowering to power. Nothing like a little insurrection facilitated by your own colleagues to get the Dems to now play hardball. I like these Dems with their new found courage and willingness to wield power.
