Explain me the senate power sharing impasse

Dick Durbin on Morning Joe today saying Graham is still calling the shots although he’s the “outgoing” judiciary chair. Durbin is “incoming chair... but does not yet have that power and does not give a timetable. “It’ll take time, he says.

The GOP is doing the same thing they’ve always done - hoping that someone dies so they can hold onto power.

It happened with RBG. There’s a lot of octogenarian Dem senators who could get COVID and die rather quickly. Seriously, do not put this past the Republicans. They will always try for the Hail Mary pass and occasionally it works out for them.

This is a disgusting comment. Obviously, you did not pay attention to the left celebration of the death of Scalia. Ghoulish.

But aren't there just as many old or oldish Republicans? I mean at this point you could poison McConnell and everyone would believe it was from natural causes.

Dems could take power at anytime if they wanted to use their power. All it takes is 50 Senators to override McConnels filibuster. Manchin is the holdout. This is on Schumer’s lack of strong leadership.

McConnell is trying to force the Dems to use the Nuclear Option and blow up the filibuster. Manchin is trying to hold back, in the name of "bipartisanship."

It's a dumb game of chicken. Just remove the filibuster for this very narrow circumstance - when the Senate is tied at 50-50 apiece and the Senate is trying to determine the rules.

Wait. Is this still a problem? Time to govern.

I just heard it’s happening today.
I truly don’t understand the hold up.
I can’t keep straight who wants the filibuster and why.
It all makes me sleepy.

Serious question:

How is the Senate going to run the impeachment trial if the rules are not in place for the Senate to run its business?

It's done. Was announced a few moments ago. Thank goodness!

+1 if we continue as we've started. Signing far left policies in the first day is not a good way to start off.

You are a fake Dem. "we" my @ss.
