13 and sexting and "half" nudes?
This is a tough path to be on. The phone is gone. Family time happens. Time with you happens daily. Pick a show or take a walk together or do something that's just time with you. Also: therapy. For her and you. Sorry if this seems alarmist but my daughter's friend is a couple years older and was on the same path. Parents took away social media but it was not enough... has moved on to in person activities with many, many partners. |
I absolutely think that forbidding an adolescent from seeing somebody can backfire and they will want to rebel even more. But they’re not going to stop fooling around if you let them spend time in front of you. So since you already made the rule, I would say don’t budge. |
| So she says if they could get together they wouldn''t sext? I don't buy it. Sounds like something my daughter would say. Tries to gaslight. Very common teenage behavior. Mine told me no one except me monitors phones...lol. I don't think taking everything away is the answer because rebellion is a thing. 13 is young but my kid told me there were kids at her school having gang bangs. It's a different world out there. |
That's because they will be having sex, lol. |
The kids these days are into some very, very adult stuff beginning at 12-13. Scary. |

"Discourage"?
How about BANNING? She's 13, OP, and needs boundaries. You still call the shots. |
| My DD's (14) tiki's tok is full of girls in moco talking about their hook ups, body count, the worst thing a guy has said to them during sex, sending n00des, bj's. We all laugh at how stupid these kids are. |
Take away the phone until she is 15. I am dead serious. She's a child. |
| What she did was a crime . Phone gone for at least 1 year she is lucky to not have to register as a sex offender |
For what? For having someone send him a text? How was he to prevent that? If he distributed it after receiving it, that's a very different issue. |
She could be charged with distributing child pen. He could be charged with possession of child pron. Or production of child porn if he asked for it. |
** porn not pen |
I agree with this. |
He could be charged for possession if he keeps it. The mere receipt is not a crime, otherwise anyone could cause someone to commit a crime without any action on their part. And I am not sure someone is guilty of producing child porn by "asking" for something. I asked my husband to make burgers for dinner. If he makes them, I have no produced burgers. |
