What is the deal with the dental form?

It's federal law. Do you think it would be better for MCPS to disregard federal law? Do you think it would be better if undocumented children didn't attend school? Can you explain how this is relevant to the MCPS dental health form?

DP. It's relevant because somehow citizens are treated worse in this regard than people who are here illegally. If you can't see a problem with that then I don't know what to tell you.

Yah we'd be *much* better off with uneducated illegal immigrants than with educated ones. Sharp thinking.

Just send it in. Its a one time thing. Not a big deal if you take your kid to the dentist. Its just asking if they went once.

So MCPS will send my kids to the Dentist and pay for it? Great!

Our MCPS elementary school has a dentist that comes TO the school to provide dental care.

Agreed OP. It’s ridiculous.

I’m guessing the dental lobby got together and decided they should encourage this. My sister is an optometrist and I know they have lobbied (in a different state) to require an eye exam before entering Kindergarten.

IMO, it’s enough to require vaccinations. If a kid is seeing his pediatrician for vaccines, or goes to a clinic, it means that someone is likely checking his/her vision and asking about the dentist.

It’s ridiculous that MCPS requires this.

Right- because if you aren't seeing a Dentist or can't afford one - what are they doing about it? Nothing. Just mindless absurd bureaucratic red tape and paperwork.

Op again and besides my objection to the fact that our health info is none of their business and schools are not bound by Hipaa it is one more thing to do at a time when there is no time. It requires an office signature. Who has the time for that now? And for the one snarky poster I was making sure there was no legal angle I missed, which the helpful posters clarified.

" i have no time to fill out forms for my children's health" she wrote after posting numerous Karen posts to an anonymous message board all day.

Exactly. In the time she posted and responded, she could have called her dentist and asked them to send her a signed form. It is not a big deal, and if it means a whole bunch of kids get regular check-ups when they wouldn't have otherwise, its worth the inconvenience and intrusion on personal rights.

By "treating citizens worse," do you mean "asking them to fill out the dental form"? Which, for some reason, you're concluding that MCPS does not ask the parents of undocumented children to do? Keeping in mind that MCPS does not track whether a student is documented or undocumented?

Gotta love the wingnuts and the inadvertent humor they bring!

(Not you, but the folks you're satirizing.)

Wrong. It's so they know how to implant the government indoctrination radio receivers into your child's molars. I sent an email to my child's principal demanding that they add tin foil hats to the art curriculum, but so far no response.

I'd rather see dental and vision exams before K. as more people do vaccinations than those. Being able to see in K. is important.

I'm not opposed to undocumented children attend schools but they are not required to submit the same level of paperwork that legal residents are. If someone can just show up to get an education without even proving who they are, where they live, etc. they do not need me to prove my kid goes to the dentist.

Evidently you're not required to submit the paperwork, legal resident though you are, given that YOU ARE NOT SUBMITTING IT.

If I were a betting man... and I am, I'd wager that you just love to bitch about everything.

What paperwork do you think undocumented immigrants aren't providing and why do you think they're not providing it?
