What is the deal with the dental form?

Keeping our kids out of in person school for a year is neglect MCPS.

So MCPS will send my kids to the Dentist and pay for it? Great!

Right- because if you aren't seeing a Dentist or can't afford one - what are they doing about it? Nothing. Just mindless absurd bureaucratic red tape and paperwork.

Medicaid and the Children's Health Insurance Program (CHIP) provide no-cost or low-cost health coverage for eligible children in Maryland. These programs provide health coverage for children so that they can get routine check-ups, immunizations and dental care to keep them healthy.

Even if your child has been turned down in the past or you don't know if they qualify, you may be able to get health coverage now.

1) I never saw a dentist as a kid

2) My kid is a dentist (I am proud AF)

3) Even just putting the thought in people's heads that dental care is important, is a good first step. My parents thought that dentists were like beauticians - just a luxury, cool thing to do, no need.

4) In addition to CHIP, check out your area free clinic, and also Mission of Mercy (in Frederick). Free dental care is out there. For low cost, head to Howard Univ. or the Univ of Maryland (Balt) dental schools for care.

Ehat deplorable you people are! Maybe things aren't just about you! Schools test for vision and hearing because if they didn't, there would be children whos parents didn't realize that the children had a deficit and a deficit in either one would effect their learning.
The school provides meals for children who can't afford to eat, because being hungry effects their learning. Same with having teeth rotting out of their head. In princess land where you live, it is unheard of for a parent not to take their. Hildreth to the dentist but this is not true in other areas. Asking about the dentist not only prompts the parent to actually have dental care but should the kid have a tooth knocked out on the playground-which happens more than you might expect- there is a person who has x-rays and records should they be required.

Op again and besides my objection to the fact that our health info is none of their business and schools are not bound by Hipaa it is one more thing to do at a time when there is no time. It requires an office signature. Who has the time for that now? And for the one snarky poster I was making sure there was no legal angle I missed, which the helpful posters clarified.

OP, serious question, what if your child is at school (when children are at school again) and there is a medical emergency of some sort?

I'm just astonished by the "my child's health information is none of the school's business" position.

Then they can call me and an ambulance. It’s not like the school nurse is going to do anything. In most cases the person is not even a nurse.

What do you do for camp forms? Same policy?

Are you just in the area this week for the sedition? I've found most people in this area are well educated so I'm guessing you're visiting?

" i have no time to fill out forms for my children's health" she wrote after posting numerous Karen posts to an anonymous message board all day.

+1

In California where I am, there's actually a part of the form (or perhaps another form, I can't remember) that basically says "sign here if you don't think your kid's dental records are our business."

Don't be silly, PP. Plenty of people with degrees from Fancypants University are fools, and plenty of people without any degree at all have a good understanding of what's what.

It's federal law. Do you think it would be better for MCPS to disregard federal law? Do you think it would be better if undocumented children didn't attend school? Can you explain how this is relevant to the MCPS dental health form?

They want your permission so they can get your child's DNA profile. DON'T GIVE IT TO THEM.
