Same, from an FCPS ES Teacher.

Unfortunately many staff at LCPS are not looking forward to working at the slaughterhouses and death camps that Thanksgiving will create and Christmas break will enhance.

My kids are supposed to go tomorrow. I didn’t want them hybrid but they had to be for my job. If numbers are up I may or may not send them. Same for Friday. Thursday is 7 days post exposure for thanksgiving gatherers so this week and next will be telling. We’ll see.

Over dramatic posts like these make me laugh. You clearly have no clue what’s going on in the world.

November 30 stats from the Virginia Dept of. Health:

Fairfax County cases per 100K: 368
Loudoun County cases per 100K: 264

Loudoun County positivity: 7.6%

What is the point of posting this? Loudoun’s metrics are higher and harder to hit than any other district’s. Their metrics are a AND, not an OR, and their PPR rate is 2-4% higher than any other locality. Loudoun kids are going no matter what. It could be 400/100,000 and 9.9% and people are in school there.

It’s for those who are calling for FCPS to open simply because Loudoun is opening. The numbers are different. Thank you for noting that the metrics are higher.

I would argue it’s not a good thing Loudoun’s metrics are higher especially considering they were hastily set in a boundaries meeting with little deliberation. Now board members are openly posting they have concern but only the superintendent can change the course. Frustrating to see nobody willing to take ownership of these decisions and what they mean for people.

DP
I read that as a sarcastic post about staff.

All of Virginia is in phase 3. So all counties should be at least hybrid in person. The ones that aren’t providing in person school for families that want it are failing their communities.

Good luck to all teachers. LCPS is creating problems by allowing staff to get infected and expose their families. Congrats to the 30% of parents who lacked skills to step up to the plate.

If you are not comfortable with in person, continue with DL. Many of us want our kids to be in school and hope LCPS succeeds.

Good luck today, LCPS.

Thank you! We're really looking forward to it. Finally!

Hopefully FCPS will follow LCPS’s lead!
