My DD looked at both and ended up at Carleton. She loves being in the Midwest and it’s been a great fit. She was ready to live in another state and can’t wait to go back. You are lucky to have two great choices! |
| Deciding between Grinnell and Kenyon. She's visited both and can't decide. Thinks they're both great. |
|
Yes, DS committed to NYU, but I am concerned because we didn't specifically visit. Heloves NYC and wanted a urban
school. Penn was #1, but didn't get in. I was a bit concerned about COVID-19, but figure that NY will handle it well, or Fall will be online. (They already called Summer sessions.) That could work out well, since we would save tuition and he would be taking the gen ed core classes the first semester, anyway. |
My DS just decided on Carleton over several other schools. Very excited for him! I’m glad to hear your DD likes it. |
|
Could you share your son’s stats? Congrats! |
| My kid's 90% decided between two schools, but hasn't committed yet. |
I would pick Grinnell - its monster endowment will help them weather this time much more easily. |
| Yes. He had a clear #1 and committed as soon as the acceptance came in December. |
| Not yet. We are sitting with multiple waitlists and hoping that one will clear in the coming weeks. |
DS is senior at Grinnell. They did a incredible job managing the pandemic with TONS of resources for students. It is a fantastic place and I'm sad that we won't be back on campus again. |
Curious: what evidence is there that NYU or any other 4-year residential college is planning to reduce tuition if the fall semester needs to be conducted online? |
I seriously doubt tuition would be reduced, but hopefully families would not be charged for room and board the universities are not making available. |
| Yes! Committed to Williams. |
Not to scare you, but having attended NYU and touring it with all three of my children, I find it to be one of those schools that you REALLY need to see before you commit to it. It is very distinct from most schools. |
