I named my daughter Amelia. I saw an article (not in the post) that said that name has become very popular. Who knew, last year it was low on the SS list.

I love the name Emily, Abigail, Lillian, and Charolette. My husband hated all of them but "could live with" Amelia. Seriously,I sometimes think they shouldn't have a say

I also like Elise too.

I wanted Adrienne. My husband hated it.

My husband LOVED the name Skylar. I liked it enough, but felt it was getting too trendy, and/or that it suggested pretension. In the end I got over myself and realized just how much he really loved it. So she's an adorable 12-month old Skylar now.

1 Isabella
2 Sophia
3 Emma
4 Olivia
5 Ava
6 Madison
7 Madelyn
8 Chloe
9 Lily
10 Addison

Actually, either that poster or the WP linked to a website that had Amelia as the number ONE name. I was surprised, too.

my friend had a baby girl yeterday and named her jovian, and for short, jovie

Does your friend know that's not a real name? This is helpful to the OP, though. She wanted Anna and DH wanted Emily, so perhaps a good compromise would be to just make something up. Like Jovian.

Would he go for Annalee or Annaliese? I know those might be too close to Anna...

What do you know? There was a Roman Emperor Jovian. His name comes from Jovian, the adjective form of Jupiter or Jove. It has the same relationship as Julian does to Julius.

Nymbler is a great site.
How about Annabelle or Annabella?
As far as not being able to come up with the name, thank goodness we had two girls because if the surprise was "it's a boy," for either one, they still wouldn't have names!

Hey, Mom of a Sophie here, and just because there are plenty of them to go around doesn't make it any less beautiful. Others must agree, hence its popularity.

Sophie is a family name and pretty much the only one my DH and I could agree on. Around here, it is very regionally popular, but in other areas of the country (where we are from) it is not. We love it, and sometimes it is worth it to have a popular name if it is your favorite name. Why settle for something you like less just to be different?

OP, if you love Anna and your husband loves Emily, name her Anna Emily. Get over the "family situation" and pick your favorite names. Don't listen to the static.

I like Elena, Adela or Adele, Eliza.

No, but it does make it incredibly annoying to both the child and other parents. My daughter's kindergarten class has Sophie P., Sophie M., AND Sophie Mc. You try figuring out who she plays with on a daily basis
