Yes. |

Dulles is one of the worst international airports I've ever experienced. Perhaps only Laguardia is worst.
This metro joke just completes the circle
|
Absolutely agree. They'll pay $12 max for the trip, as opposed to an Uber for a family of 4 which will be at least $60 or long-term parking at the airport -- $25 a day. Not even including the cost of tolls on I-66. |
Yeah, not even close. Charles De Gualle is the stuff of horrors. |
I only took it once. I live near Dulles. Another time I took the bus to Greenbelt. That was easier, but i didn't like the station. Southwest was so much cheaper to my destination. |
Yeah not even close, you need to get out more. |
If you are far enough for an uber to be $60+, the metro fare will be a lot more than $3/person, especially if you are in rush hour, which is defined very broadly by metro. Many people will also need to take an uber from the metro because there aren't that many people who can walk to a metro stop, especially with luggage. It will still be cheaper than an uber from Dulles, but I think you are delusional if you think there are a lot of families of four that are going to take metro. If you are flying with 4 people you are looking at a bare minimum of $1,000 in airfare, more likely at least $1,200 and often quite a lot more. Tacking on uber fare just isn't that big a deal when you factor in how much time and aggravation you will save, particularly if you have to take more than one metro line. |
I've travelled everywhere in Europe and Asia. Where do YOU travel, funny poster? |
Depending on where you live, it can be quicker to connect through JFK from DCA than to fly out of Dulles, partially because of the distance but also because Dulles is poorly laid out and security is a mess. Plus a lot of airlines have nicer products out of JFK, especially if you are flying for work and can fly business class. |
I regularly take MARC from Baltimore to DC and see people taking those trains from BWI to DC alllll the time. |
This. Tons of people on the MARC - families, business professionals, singles going on vacation. And the MARC is way more expensive than this will be and a more inconvenient dropoff. |
I completely agree with this. |
|
If you live in MoCo or in NW DC near the red line, another way to get to BWI is to take the MDTA ICC bus that goes from Shady Grove metro right to BWI airport: https://s3.amazonaws.com/mta-website-staging/mta-website-staging/files/Routes+Schedules/201.pdf
It runs from 4am to midnight. I fly often, and out of all 3 airports. Dulles isn't that bad. There's far worse out there, like Heathrow and Charles de Gaulle. |
The ‘it’s not over til it’s under’ was for Tysons, not Dulles. I don’t remember anyone clamoring for it being underground for Dulles. |
We had no car and little money and flew to see family often before kids. I never ever saw a family at the creepy as f Marc/Amtrak station. The shuttle ride alone is almost as long as driving back to DC. Tokyo Paris PP, so a metro train is preferable to an Uber black? I mean you must be flush for those travels so imagine the $70 cost on a $1500 trip is really a worry. Presumably Dulles will be a nicer walk though. |
