Yes, you need to feed the children at a birthday party an actual lunch. Fruit and popcorn doesn’t cut it. Don’t be cheap.
But no, you don’t have to feed the adults. A grown man or woman grabbing for greasy pizza is vulgar behavior that should not be encouraged. |

Best birthday cake?
Costco, Wegmans, Giant, Safeway. Repeat! |
| Yes, you should leave abusive spouses. No, it does not matter if the spouse has ADHD, bipolar, MS, or cancer. Abuse is abuse. |
| 3 pizzas is not enough to feed 15 kids and their parents, even if you have salad and fruit on the side. |
NP to add: not having enough food and drinks for your invited guests is tacky! If you can’t afford to feed them or lack the planning/mathematical skills to make it work, don’t hold the event! |
/Want it in their workspace / enjoy seeing it in restaurants or hotels. |

Giving the teacher a gift at holiday time, Teacher Appreciation Week, or the end of the year is neither necessary nor will it get your child any special favors.
If you do give something: Some teachers like gift cards. Others like mugs and other stuff. Nearly everyone likes a heartfelt note, especially if your child writes it him or herself. Don’t stress over it to any extent. No teacher is doing this job for the Starbucks gift card or Best Teacher Ever mug. And really bad teachers aren’t going to change just because you gave the rest of the team a gift, but excluded them. Signed, A teacher |
| Yes, UVA is a great school. |
| No, your commute from Ashburn to downtown DC won’t be 15 minutes. |

Halloween: trick-or-treating is ON Oct. 31, not any nearest weekend day. Most start after sundown or around 6:00. Dress your kid up however you want just don’t get all mad if your poor judgment makes your family social pariahs.
“No Gift” party invitations: Bring something if you want just don’t get all mad if your inability to read makes your family social pariahs. Birthday invites and siblings: Bring siblings if you want just don’t get all mad if your inability to read makes your family social pariahs. Janney PTA contribution: It’s your money you don’t have to spend it if you don’t want to just don’t get all mad if your frugality makes your family social pariahs. Visiting in-laws: It’s your house you don’t have to host anybody coming to town if you don’t want to just don’t get all mad if your insistence that they get a hotel room makes your family social pariahs. Cyclists and drivers: Don’t hit nobody. |

The Big 3 are Cathedral, Sidwell and GDS now. Yes, 40 years ago it was NCS/STA/SFS but now NCS and STA are treated as one.
Also, Big 3 isn't the be-all and end-all, and your kid may fit somewhere else better. If you make $250k, you are an asshat to ask if you qualify for financial aid. |
You're probably right. I have bolded the reason why. |
Yes. It is *always* better to have to much than not enough. |
+1 I will gladly send this to my MIL, who insists that any regular sized single serving lunch is "enough for an army", and proceeds to take home 2/3 of it - in order to have 4 more meals. She weighs about 90 pounds, and is about 4'9". Is it ANY wonder? |
| If your kid won’t eat the meal you prepared, they can skip it and any future meals they won’t eat due to pickiness. They won’t starve. Eventually they will get hungry enough to eat. |
