Halloween: trick-or-treating is ON Oct. 31, not any nearest weekend day. Most start after sundown or around 6:00. No racist costumes.

“No Gift” party invitations: honor the hosts and don’t bring a gift. Have your kid make a card.

Birthday invites and siblings: don’t bring siblings unless they are expressly invited or a babe in arms.

Janney PTA contribution: yes, it’s insanely high for a public school. Pay it or pay what you want to, but make some kind of contribution or else they will hound you.

Visiting in-laws: yes, it’s ok to refuse to sleep with your spouse and your kids all crammed uncomfortably into one tiny space; hotel is fine. In-laws will survive.

Cyclists and drivers: yes, many cyclists are jerks. Yes, many drivers are jerks.

Yes, ADHD is a real mental health disorder that has been exhaustively researched. The confusion comes from the fact that there are two types, the hyperactive and inattentive types. Inattentives often fly under the radar.

No, ADHD is not overdiagnosed, and kids aren't over-medicated. Parents with ADHD usually don't rush to medicate their kids. They wait until the situation is desperate and then say they should have tried sooner.

All kids are exactly the same as each other. If another parent does things differently than I do, and reports good results the parent is WRONG. Maybe they are a helicopter parent, or else they're neglectful and don't care that their kid is kidnapped. On the other hand, if someone does things the same way that I do, and gets poor results it's because the parent is doing it WRONG because my ways always work. So, the problem is you.

Also, whoever toilet trains their kid the oldest is the WINNER! The only thing that supercedes early toilet training as a parental accomplishment is getting your kid into a "higher Ivy". No, that does not include Columbia! What are you thinking? Stanford might be OK, and maybe MIT. The jury is out on that last one.

Don't be ridiculous, getting your kid into MIT isn't their accomplishment. Did you miss the part where I said that all kids are the same? So, clearly the variable in your kid's college outcome is you, not the kid.

PP is wrong about Popeye’s sandwich - it’s delicious and doesn’t come with a side of homophobia.

There is only one Ivy League.

Vaccines are the best way for your kids to actually make it to childhood.

Whittle School isn’t a thing yet.

Yu Ying is fine but hardly superb.

Brent is only “good” because all the browns, sorry OOB, have been phased out.

4 month old babies who are suddenly changing their sleep are having a regression. It will pass.

Just before a nursing mother goes back to working outside the home at 8-12 weeks, her baby will refuse to take a bottle. It will persist for a day or two with the nanny or daycare. It will pass.

Should you confront your spouse: not until you have all the evidence and they either validate what you know to be true, or that they’re a liar

Child support: file for it, it’s a state calculation, for your CHILD and their legal right, not YOU, and completely separate matter legally in any situation with a child. If a parent doesn’t pay they will garnish wages, tax refunds, suspend license, or arrest you.
