Wootton boundaries

You realize MCPS is doing a district-wide boundary study, right?

Everyone could be impacted — even people in your little bubble.

No, they're not. They're doing an analysis of boundaries district-wide.

Also, the top PP is almost certainly a troll.

If you don't think the analysis will lead to boundary changes, you're insane. Every district needs to change boundaries on a regular basis to deal with demographic and population changes. MCPS hasn't done that on a district-wide basis for 20 years. This analysis will--and SHOULD--lead to boundary changes across the district.

Not a troll at all. I live in the Churchill cluster. My kids are in private and I have been worrying about the home values as a result of this study. Obviously not worried about my kids because they are and will always be in private. But based on what I have read and looking at the options for moving boundaries, there really isn't much they can do to our cluster. We border Wootton, Whitman, Walter Johnson, and a tiny section borders RM. And our home is pretty deep into the cluster, so I really don't think we will be affected. Maybe I am wrong, but I will say the likelihood is slim. Sorry, but the diversity bus is not driving past our neighborhood!

I don't say this often, but I have to say it in this case: You're a horrible person.

Certain school board members have admitted that they have it in for the W’s. They resent that we bought expensive homes so that we can send our kids to good schools and are out to get us. Unless you can SEE your high school from your front yard, you’re probably at risk of having your boundaries redrawn.

What's so horrible about caring about ones major investment?

Churchill mom here. I can't "see" my high school, but our home is pretty much smack in the middle of the cluster, and the high school is 2 miles from our home. So like I said earlier...very very slim chance of our family being affected.

Shorter PP (assuming you're not a troll): I'm not interested in public education, but I am concerned about how much I can resell my property for!

Of course I am interested in public education. And from my standpoint, this boundary study is intended to destroy whatever is good about MCPS. And, yes, my property value is VERY important to me. Is yours? Where do you live?

Meaning de-facto segregated schools?

Which parts show your interest in public education - the part where you send your children to private school and always will, or the part where you're worried about your home value?

No.

Then you should expect to be considered for boundary adjustments, when they get to that point.

DP... we are closer to Wootton than RM, but this area got rezoned to RM about 20 years ago. It doesn't matter if you are "smack in the middle". They can rezone your area.

Yes, but where would they send us? Whitman? Wootton? Those are the closest borders. Worst case RM, but that's unlikely. It's all unlikely!!
