Wootton boundaries

Would there be any likely changes to Wootton before Crown becomes relevant? I've heard rumors about changes such as areas going to NW or QO but assumed none of this could happen until Crown became real.

There might be. Depends on what people decide to do after the boundary analysis is complete.

Before the DuFief addition is done, there'll be a boundary study and some students from Rachel Carson will be rezoned there.

Those kids won't necessarily go to Wootton.

OP: No one knows this stuff until it happens. Calm down.

Lot of changes coming to this cluster, and quickly from what I hear. Many people will be moved to QO or Crown, or to other schools.

Changes will be happening with every cluster, bucko.

Nearly every school in the Wootton cluster is under capacity.

Wootton is definitely on the diversity bus' route.

How do you square "quickly" with people being moved to Crown, which doesn't exist yet, has no architectural plans in progress, and no funding for even the planning stages of construction? It takes MCPS at least 4 years to build a high school, and there is no evidence that they are going to start that process for Crown this year. So you are talking about 5 years minimum for Crown. I guess in MCPS that might be considered "quickly"?

Here's the evidence.

Capital Project: Previous projections indicated that enrollment at Thomas S. Wootton High School would exceed
capacity by 200 seats or more by the end of the
six-year planning period. An FY 2018 appropriation
was approved for a facility planning to conduct
a capacity study. Expenditures are approved in
the six-year period to open a new high school on
the Crown Farm site to address overutilization
in the mid-county region. Although an FY 2019
appropriation for planning was recommended by
the Board of Education for this new school, the
County Council delayed the funds by one year
to begin in FY 2020. An FY 2020 appropriation is
approved for planning to begin the architectural
design for this project.
Once the planning is complete, a recommendation will be included in the
next full CIP regarding the phasing and completion date for the opening of this new high school.

FY 2020 for MCPS started on July 1.

When I went to the Seneca Valley, Clarksburg, Northwest boundary study meeting, the MCPS Planning director said that Crown will impact Northwest, QO, Richard Montgomery, and Wootton.

OP, this is what you need to know.

But DCUM really hates this idea, and people are always happy to use their 100%-guaranteed-to-be-true crystal balls to tell the future.

Gaithersburg High School won't be affected?

The CIP mentions Crown HS for Gaithersburg HS, Wootton HS, Quince Orchard HS, Richard Montgomery HS, and Northwest HS.
