If someone is drinking two bottles a wine a weekend that person has a drinking problem. Full stop. No one is trying to tell you not to enjoy a glass of wine now and then. |
I watch what I eat, I exercise nearly every day, I'm an early to bed, early to rise sort of responsible person, I have no bad/addictive habits. If I decide that I want to drink a bottle of wine, that is totally my call to make. |
...and when people call you an alcoholic, you should agree with them. I know this because I used to do the same thing. You have a drinking problem. |
+1M Not everyone has an addictive personality. I know this is difficult for some people to understand because it is not their experience and they don't think it is fair. |
You are projecting your issues onto me. I'm sorry you dealt with that, I'm sure it sucked. It sounds like you are in recovery which is good. |
Definitely not projecting my issues. But I was making the same excuses that you are. Can you stop drinking long enough to lose the weight you're complaining about? If your answer is no, then you have a problem. Not sure why you don't get that. Google gray area drinking. I think you're far beyond that, but maybe that will help you out a bit. |
It's not just a goal weight that I'm going for, it's a sustainable diet. For me, I enjoy having some amount of alcohol. I have actually lost a fair amount of weight over the past 6 months or so. I would say that my success is indicative of the fact that I am not consuming in excess. FWIW, I've done other highly restrictive diets in the past which did not allow any alcohol at all, whatsoever. I also did not drink at all when I was pregnant. So, yes, I can go (and have gone) for long stretches w/o drinking any alcohol at all. |
LOL. You are super defensive. Lady I don't give two sh*ts what you eat and drink but you are an alcoholic. 100% agree it is totally your call - you do you. |
Where did the PP (who is not the OP) say he or she was battling extra weight. We get it, you have a problem with alcohol. Best of luck to you. |
I'm sure there are some extremely good reasons that you have some rather rigid rules regarding your own alcohol consumption. Whatever you need to do pp. No one is judging you. |
|
PP here that I think y’all are referring to. The rigid rules are in place because I wasn’t losing weight! Plain and simple. I too could stop for long periods of time (pregnancy, dieting), was generally eating healthy, working out daily, running races, etc. but the glass a day plus weekend wine drinking was killing my progress. I was gaining and losing the same 5 lbs in a continuous loop. I love wine, but I had to stop. And as soon a I did weight started falling off and bloat and puffiness is gone.
I will be drinking on vacation next month and again in August. But drinking just to drink is no longer a part of my routine. Otherwise I will gain weight. And yes, I do believe that I was a problem drinker borderline alcoholic based on the above behavior. But people’s opinions differ on how to define an alcoholic. |
I think you were consuming more alcohol than I ever do (I'm not a daily drinker even on vacation. I'm more once a week. Twice a week tops). My own weight loss has been steady although I have been on maintenance mode for the past several weeks as I've been upping my exercise. I have a little more to go but I actually want to take the remaining pounds off more slowly because I think the results will be better. Simple tip from a diet veteran: If you want to take off the weight you might gain over your vacation, try intermittent fasting once you get home. IF works wonders in getting you back on track. Or at least it sure does the trick for me. |
Are you OP? I thought you said you were knocking back two bottles over every weekend. |
I don't drink because it's really bad for your health. Even one glass disrupts your sleep, and I'm super into high quality sleep. I have a husband, two kids, and a career, so I like getting my full high quality 8 hours. I also find drinking just wasn't giving me energy. I have no issues with people who enjoy a glass of wine, but trying to say you "eat right" while drinking two bottles of wine a weekend is just false. That is not a good nutrition plan. It's a ton of sugar and empty calories, and that much drinking puts you at a much higher risk for cancer and other diseases. |
| I lost weight while continuing to drink wine. Calories in calories out. |
