Feeling sad for Britney Spears

Accept for Neil - all of them stopped working basically when they turned 30. Which is fine - they're sitting on piles of cash. But you have to wonder why? That's what I mean by burnt out.

What? No, they are all still working. Justin is on tour, Mandy is on a TV show and Christina is going to do a residency in Vegas.

PP apparently lives under a rock.

Adding to the mix, Christian Bale, Ryan Gosling, Johnny Galecki, etc. You may not be aware that they've each had middling success as an adult. Poor guys can't get past their child star status.

They broke up which is probably another huge component to this.

No they didn't!

Yep.

It isn't uncommon for high stress / low sleep to trigger episodes at all.

Leave her be - if it’s how she is it’s how she is.
I have a friend that I grew up with who is like this, though she really is a bit simple & is not capable of being a rock star, and we cherish her just how she is.

Britney’s core fan base feels this way. They love her exactly how she is, hot mess and all.

For all the ones who "turned out fine", you have Amanda Bynes, Demi Lovato, Selena Gomez, Bella Thorne...

Either they flame/burn out or if they keep going - drug addicts, abusive relationships, or mental illness.

Britney seemed to have it all together. Stellar career and body but I guess her cross to bear is mental illness.

I feel like Natalie Portman is an exception to this, no?

Yes, her first role was when she was 13. But it was one film and a minor supporting role every 8-10 months. I'd argue that Britney Spears starring in the Mickey Mouse Club/Star Search at the age 11 with huge year-round commitments of 25 episodes a season was more stressful for a young kid.

Still Portman doesn't seem to be adversely affected.

There are many exceptions. But statistically they struggle. Portman was never anywhere near as famous as Britney was in her heyday. That counts for a lot. The ones who got REALLY REALLY famous are generally the ones who break. I'd say Justin Timberlake is a better example, but even he was not as famous as Britney when they were 16/17.

Its hard to overstate how famous she was at such a very young age.

Justin has been in movies, is married with a kid, and is on a super successful tour.

By all accounts, he's fine.

I think a big part of Selena’s problems stem from having Lupus.

The Coreys, Aaron Carter, Dustin Diamond, Lark Vorhees, River Pheonix, Dana Plato, Brad Renfro, Jonathan Brandis, many many more. A lot of the ones who flame out die, so they aren't remembered that well.

I think the Culkin kids are examples of one's who really found their way through to the other side. All seem to be doing ok today, although McCauley I think had a lot of problems in his teens.

McCauley struggles with sobriety to this day.

Justin was in a group. The ones in groups so a little better. NKOTB, NSYNC, BSB, Destiny's Child, a lot of the groups fared better on average. Look at Nick Carter vs Aaron Carter. Groups make you part of something, not all on your own as a kid.

Justin ALSO had good parents that didn't try to steal from him. Most of these kids are not so lucky. But Lynn Timberlake is widely thought to be a good mom who never tried to leech off of him.

Also, for the record, I think Justin wasn't that great a guy in all that went down with Britney Spears over the years. I don't want to contribute to a thread about her turning into something celebrating him. He used her to jumpstart his own fame and watched her go down in flames.

Didn't she cheat on him and then he broke up with her?

So why isn't Lynn in the picture and able to serve as Britney's conservator?
