+1 We know several children who committed to big name schools and then had to decommit because they didn't get their scores and the offer was rescinded or because the coaching staff changed and the new coach moved in a different direction. The verbals were still announced heavily though through the club teams. Otherwise the rest of us wouldn't have known about them. It was part of the marketing to keep girls and their parents interested in the teams. |
| Capital just doesn't post until after the kids sign their National Letters of Intent (NLI) on National Signing Day in mid-October. This helps with any real or perceived pressure on the kids. But once we hit the NLIs, CLC will be all over this class. As of today, they have 18 or 19 on their top team and 6 on their second team committed. And while not all Ivies (although there are certainly some), it is a truly great academic list, and the girls definitely have to make sure that they keep their scores up in their classes and with their standardized tests, but it seems like most of their recruiting has involved pre-reviews of their transcripts and test scores with the admissions offices. So while it sounds cheesy and probably won't go over well here, stay tuned. The Capital 21's have done really well for themselves, their clubs and their families. Many top twenty lax programs, and more importantly some great academic fits. |

But, the truth is, there are a very few Ivy committs for '21s. Some strong academic schools have recruited those girls sure, but not in the Ivy League. |
| What percentage of the average population goes to an ivy league school? The 21 Blue team has 13% (3 out of 23) committed to Ivy League Schools - not to mention the 4 to Vanderbilt, 3 to Cal, one each to Johns Hopkins, Stanford and Notre Dame - quit bashing! |
| Except you're ignoring the point that most of the girls are using lax as their hook. So those stats don't look very impressive when you consider the intent. It also will be interesting to see which of those actually pan out. Unfortunately there are at least two or three who probably won't be able to make the grades/scores. |
Are you dense? That's 13 out of 23 going to some of the hardest admittance schools in the nation. Let it go, you're getting killed. |
|
| I was a new poster and I am not dense by any means. You're speaking with a mom with a girl in the Club. Learn some manners. |
Wow, its not "bashing" if its just a simple statement of the truth. Capital has often been held out as a club that gets a large percentage (more than 13% certainly) of players in to the Ivy League schools. The Capital 2021s are some of the best players in the country and yet only 3 are committed to an Ivy. That doesn't line up with the reputation. Why arent more girls committed to Ivies? (and fyi Vanderbilt is not in same league as rest of those schools). |
| It is amazing how many of the worst people in the world are gathered on this one thread. |
| Are there some still uncommitted? |
| Honestly, there's no way those three don't 'pan out', especially since all passed pre-reads - Columbia, Penn and Yale. Those little girls are smart and have worked awfully hard. And while I certainly appreciate cynicism as much as the next person, all of the 21 girls - Blue and Orange Team - should be praised for their sacrifices to secure these opportunities not anonymously maligned. Anyone can throw stones but "facts are stubborn things". The acceptance rates speak for themselves: Columbia (6.8%), Penn (9.4%) and Yale (6.3%). And then for the other non-Ivies: Bucknell (33%), Cal-Berkeley (16.8%), Colorado - Boulder (82%), Delaware (62%), James Madison (73%), Johns Hopkins (12.8%), Lehigh (22%), Notre Dame (18%), Richmond (32.5%), San Diego State (34%), Stanford (5.1%), Vanderbilt (10.7%), Virginia (26%) and William & Mary (37%). All great schools especially give the majors the kids want to pursue. Nothing here for anyone to be ashamed of. They earned these opportunities. |
| Yes - 4 or 5 still uncommitted. But one is injured recovering from ACL who is definitely a D1 level player once she shows she's fully recovered. |
| The fact that you take time to talk about children working there ass off to do something that they love is interesting. I personally know several of these girls and the hard work, determination, and pressure that comes with this. Talking about how some of the schools they go to are not up to the “standard” or some of you people is sad. These girls are where they belong or where they want to go. That’s the end of the discussion. |
| It’s never been about going to ivys it’s about sending girls to competitive academic school WHICH THEY ARE. several other girls on the team who committed to other very academic schools had offers or were in contact with ivys. Have you every thought that that may not be the place they wanted? You may think this is about what the club wants but this is about the girls. Period. |
