There is a Sebastian at our daycare, he's about 2. He's the only Sebastian I know. |
| DS is named Benjamin and I've only met 1 other Ben and he's a year younger. It's becoming popular. |
I know several Bens ages three to six. |
Me too! I was surprised nobody mentioned it earlier, it seems one of the most common to me. Another name I've (surprisingly) heard a lot is Cooper. |
Lots of Coopers. Lots of Bens, although not all Bens are Benjamins. |

DS is 19 mos.
What would Ben be if not Benjamin? Just "Ben"? |
| Bennett. We know 2 Bennetts in Bethesda. |
| Many Liams around us in Arlington. |
| I know it's on the list, but do you guys know a lot of little boys named Joseph? |
just one |
Just 2. One in Chevy Chase and the other one way in Madison, WI. |
| FWIW, I have 2 boys with names in the top 20 MD list and so far, they have been the only kid in their class with the name. One suggestion for a way to distinguish your kid is to provide him with a nice middle name that compliments the first name so you'd have the option of calling him by both his first and middle name (ie: John Thomas or JT). While I'm not a traditionalist, I was cautious when selecting baby names. I thought about what my kid's name would look like on a resume for a potential employer. Sebastian is rather common in certain cultures, but I think it might be a burden for a kid who isn't from an ethnic group where the name is common. And it's tough to come up with a cool nickname for it. |
| Is anyone naming their son Emmett or know of any boys named Emmett? |
I love Emmett! DH vetoed it, so we went with one that sounds very similar (and has been mentioned on this page already). I don't know any little Emmetts around here. |
