NP. I am not interested in "peer-reviewed" trials. I've been eating this way for a couple of years now and it works for me. You do you. |
I do one 36 hour fast once a week and follow 16-8 the rest of the week. Sometimes a 16-8 will turn into a 20 or 24 hour fast if I have a particularly busy day. I eat more on the weekends but continue to watch my carbs.
It is not hard at all for me. I have lost over 20 pounds since the beginning of October and am still losing. My energy levels have shot through the roof. I find myself tackling projects around the house that I've been meaning to get to for a year or more. |
If she's on diabetes medication she should ask her doctor about how to safely incorporate IF. Once you become diabetic and go on meds it becomes a bit more complicated because you actually have to eat at particular times or you risk going hypoglycemic which can be dangerous. She'll need to work with her doctor to reverse this. I would be careful trying to IF while taking diabetes meds. I've never been on those meds before and probably a lot of posters on this thread haven't been. My guess is she could do a modified fast to keep her numbers looking good. |
I am the first PP in this chain. For my DH, he never started the meds, he monitored his blood sugar daily and was never anywhere near a danger area and could see the downward progression. If the second PP’s wife is on meds she should talk with her doctor but there is a lot of info out there now. Where it appears to be particularly tricky is when someone is taking insulin to manage the diabetes but that is normally after many years with diabetes. Definitely talk to your medical team. |
SHe said she eats fruit and veggies- those have plenty of carbs. Added sugar does nothing healthy. |
You don't get headaches or shakes? |
No. Not even a little. I stay hydrated and I do drink about 3 cups of bone broth during the course of my 36 hour fast. From what I have read, bone broth is not enough to "count" on a fast and it helps you to maintain salt/electrolytes. Google "will bone broth break a fast" and the answer seems to be no. Good enough for me! I know that some people prefer to strictly water fasts. |
before I started Intermittent fasting I used to get that feeling, like a blood sugar drop, if I went too long without eating. The fasting seems to have evened me out quite a bit. My lunch break at work is at 1:30. I try to make it until then but about 2 days per week I don't. I'll have half and apple or some beef jerky. I eat at 1:30 and around 5 most days. I don't eat particularly well and I eat outside of the window occasionally. I'm maintaining my loss at this point but when I get more strict I start to lose again |
