Ravenous for the whole day after a hard workout

I've trained myself not to be hungry by pushing my breakfast out farther and farther. Now I don't eat until 9:30am (at my drsk) and then again at 1:30. It took some time though.

NP here. OP, I do a very high intensity bootcamp three days a week and find myself being a bottomless pit on those days too. I am trying to drink a gallon of water a day, which definitely helps on the bootcamp days with me not overeating. I do think a lot of my hunger is actually emotional-based (trying to avoid certain tasks at work, etc) so the water serves multiple physical and mental purposes. the other thing I do is snack on berries. They're so good for you, they satisfy that need to eat between meals, and they're delicious. I stock up at costco on blueberries, blackberries and strawberries. I should note that in addition to just getting into great shape, I'm actively trying to lose weight, so I needed to address my insatiable appetite.

I'm wondering if you are actually just extremely tired from not getting enough sleep, due to the early workout, and your body is compensating for it with hunger. I know I overeat on days I haven't had enough sleep.

PP who is hungry all day and no. When I would do a 6AM boot camp I would be in bed by 8:30 and I don’t have kids, so sleep right through until about 5:15 or so.

This is OP again. Yea, thanks for posting. Its a good thought but I am naturally up early (not dragging myself out of bed before working out). I think its really might be the protein. I'm will try to consciously eat a lot more protein at night and will have a protein shake (or a rotisserie chicken - haa!) at the ready for after.

This happens to me OP. Protein shakes aren’t for me. I just don’t like them. The only thing that helps me is a “dinner” type meal. Like the PP with the rotisserie chicken. I just finished leftover dinner, 2 chicken sausages with broccoli and tomatoes. It must be a psychological thing because even if it’s the same amount of calories and protein and it’s traditional breakfast food I feel hungry all day and will eat lunch by 10 am.

OP, could you split your meals up so you're grazing throughout the day but eating the same calories? A friend of mine started doing this and she has lost 15 lbs. I kind of naturally do it without really thinking about it - I split my breakfast up into three parts, mostly eaten at my desk. I have several little (mostly healthy) snacks. A coworker jokes that she's never seen me NOT eating because I'm always snacking.

WRONG! You absolutely exercise for weight loss purposes because exercise is known to increase your metabolism. Which is why every doctor says "eat less and move more."

The op isn’t wrong. Running an entire marathon only burns about 2600 calories. About 5 Big Macs worth
