Anyone Have a Teenaged Son Unhappy He's Not Circumcised?

Anonymous
He can get it done. He will live through some uncomfortable mornings and that's it.

Every one I've ever encountered has had an unpleasant odor associated with it, no matter how clean it was. A guy could literally be right out of a hot tub and I've still been able to smell it. It's a total turn off. It's the same smell a cut guy has the day after sex, if he hasn't washed yet. Gross.

EW, that's disgusting. you must sleep w/ dirty guys. Not the norm.

I am Jewish, which means I am circumcised. The way I look at it, a lot of the jewish laws relate to improving hygiene in a time with less bathing, no antibiotics, and no refrigeration.

Back then, I can see there would definitely be a hygiene issue. today, we understand stuff. But it does require more work.

Nope. No. No they do not. Some are beautiful with big heads. Some are skinny things.

Mine was too at 16.

I have a teanage boy and I HIGHLY doubt he is discussing his contentment with his penis with you, his mom.

In fact, I am going to go out on a limb and say there is no way in hell your teenage boy has told you he is glad he is not circumcised.

I agree. I've got teenaged boys and can't imagine them ever bringing this up and I'm someone who has talked about sex/drugs/rock n roll regularly from an early age.

Yeah, I've had zero conversations with my son about his penis.. I don't think that will ever change.

You sound like you've seen (and smelled) a lot of dicks. Thanks for sharing.

I suppose I have. And I'd say that makes me an expert, then. Far more so than you. And the expert says uncut penises are gross.

Do you favor all forms of genital mutilation, or only the ones that involve boys?

Yes, but good luck getting sex. Circ guys get more sex and BJs.

The scalpels are sharp and waiting for you". he didn't do anything. He's in his late 20s now and judging by the tiny bit I know about his dating life he's not having any problems.

Like any body thing that might be different (like a big birthmark) kids are going to feel weird about it. No one wants to be different.

I'd explain to him that it used to be standard operating procedure in the US only but it's going out of favor. (Show him statistics). So their are plenty of other guys out there. Also may want to mention that when erect it's very difficult if not impossible to tell the difference between circumcised and not.

Thanks; I've gone over all the stats and why we made that decision. I also told him that any girl who won't have sex with him because of that isn't worth his time, but of course at 17, his main mission in life since he's committed to a college is losing his virginity. I think it will also help when he goes away to college where he may not be one of the only young men not cut.

Tell him hygiene is all that matters. Penises are not identical anyway. They don't all look exactly alike.

Uncircumcised male. I always find the hygiene part amusing. What's the one part of a teenage boy's body that is sure to get attention when taking a shower?

You might. But touching does not equal cleaning.

And there is a difference with an uncircumcised male if he's not cleaning regularly.

Don't encourage him to get it done, although of course it's his choice when he's an adult.

My DH is uncircumcised and he felt really insecure about it as a teenager, which is when we started dating (at age 19). He'd had sex with 1 girl before me. I think his insecurity stopped him from being more promiscuous.

Now he's really glad he's not uncircumcised, and while we don't have a son we would not circumcise one if we did.

I'm sympathetic but you have to tell him that it is perfectly normal - common in many parts of the world. He will get over it, and sooner that you think.

Perhaps, in fact, when he has a girlfriend who doesn't care, he'll realize it's not a big deal.

Um, it may just be the guys you are choosing to associate with. My ex is from Argentina, was uncut, and smelled fine.

I have the nose of a bloodhound, and this is not something I've smelled on uncut men unless they needed a shower OR had been with women who had bacterial vaginosis or some other issue that was being passed back and forth. Women don't smell so good either when they need a shower or have bacterial/fungal imbalances.

My sons are uncut, and have never discussed their genitalia with me.

Dear Bloodhound,

Is this a safe place to ask you why you're smelling so many Ds after they've been with a woman who has bacterial vaginosis?

Regards,
A curious mind
