DP here. We must pay for our citizens. But, to say that the undocumented who come here are not an expense is deceptive. And, please note that the $19k is likely a minimum cost as these kids likely need more services: ESOL, etc. and possibly special needs. |
Anchor babies and unaccompanied minors? Or a state /local jurisdiction that funds illegals? http://www.sfhp.org/visitors/healthy-kids/ Money collected is not available for other costs and is a write-off on federal tax returns. The numbers in the paper seem legit- interesting the estimated numbers of anchor babies. Note 1 anchor baby gets people on subsidized housing lists. Here's a case in San Francisco where an illegal immigrant [prior DUI and order for removal] had a vehicle stolen, reported the theft, then sued because a cop reported him to ICE. He gets $190,000 since any reporting violated the sanctuary city. http://sanfrancisco.cbslocal.com/2017/06/28/san-francisco-pay-undocumented-immigrant-sanctuary-policy/ medical /health coverage for illegal immigrants http://healthysanfrancisco.org/visitors/are-you-eligible/ Kaiser - charitable health regardless of immigration status https://charitablehealth.kaiserpermanente.org/california/eligibility/ Benefits platinum plan with no premium https://charitablehealth.kaiserpermanente.org/california/benefits/ So for health care you're better off being an illegal immigrant in California than US citizens without major subsidies. |
While they are American Citizens and here to stay, they should have never been and more are born each day to parents that should not be in this country. This is why we need a big beautiful wall, enforce harsh penalties for companies that employ illegals, and jail those who overstay Visas. Once the incentive to come is extinguished, the remaining problem can then be managed. |
What does this have anything to do with illegals and braces? Maybe you should stay on topic. |
Respectfully, what is the real evidence then? What is a reliable source which estimates such costs? |
My response was a direct response to the prior thread, which in turn was a response to the one about it. Are you the new moderator? |
The intent of birthright citizenship was not anchor babies as practiced today including birthright tourism and border crossing births-come in from Mexico-birth and return. I knew people who flew over from Asia, ME, Africa to give birth. Relatives of friends of mine or my kids. One family from the ME had 1 daughter [3 US births], 4 cousins on multiple tourist visa visits. A friend here legally from Mexico has had 5 family members-no one is poor. |
maybe because you (like OP) do not cite any facts, just rabid accusations. your facts are "illegal immigrants absolutely gets taxpayer funded benefits. How can they afford to live in Nova?" this is not a fact. come back with facts about illegal immigrant getting welfare and then we can discuss. same thing for OP. show how illegals are getting benefits paying $4-$5k for braces paid by the government and then we can discuss. "a girl at my kid's school speaks Spanish and has braces" does not qualify as evidence that the American middle class is paying for dental and health benefits to illegal immigrants. this is the crap the various Ryan and Bannon spread around so angry people keep voting for them so they can reduce taxes to the rich even more and the services to the American middle class even more, "but it's all the immigrants' fault" |
So all those kids get US citizenship [duals] and the anchors from illegals get the same thing. They also get public benefits as posted earlier in CA.
NYC allows and funds undocumented persons convicted of crimes to apply for gov pardons on deportation. None of this is about the middle class and above citizens paying taxes. |
I don't fully understand why non-documented immigrants come to NOVA? The argument for support non-documented immigrants is that "they do the jobs we don't want to do," like working in slaughterhouses, the fields picking fruits and veggies, etc. What jobs are they doing? Just all house cleaning and illegal yard work, maybe construction? And yes, I see along Lee Highway in Arlington the school bus stops where there are like a 100 Latino kids waiting at each stop. It's unfair to say they are all illegal when you have no idea. So just stop. |
Illegals come to NOVA because people from their countries started coming here in the 1980's. Undesirable illegals are more likely to end up here or the NYC or other large metro areas than smaller commu nities like North GA or Hazleton PA.
But small town Hazleton had a major crime wave. MS 13 and others. http://www.timesleader.com/news/local/666701/barletta-discusses-accomplishments-at-red-carpet-breakfast |
We paid over $100mn in extra security costs so Barron and Melania could stay in NY so Barron wouldn't have to switch schools. But I guess that's ok to the OP because he's rich and white. We all pay to take care of our country's children-that's how society works. |
I was in labor next to a 15 year old hispanic girl who was having her second baby. She screamed so much that they did a C-Section to keep her quiet One of the L&D nurses said that they do it all the time because they are reimbursed a great percentage for a C Section rather than a vaginal delivery. She said the big problem is when they have had three C-Sections and the woman comes back for a 4th delivery. |
Excuse me but all President's children get that benefit. We are also paying for non US citizens illegally present in the USA plus anchor babies. If I knew of many families with tourist visa relatives flying in for birth then how many did you ever meet?
Before actually meeting these people we were never even aware of the issue. It used to be Mexican border crossers until a few decades ago and now is an industry. |
The biggest school bus stop is at Cleveland St and Lee Highway. If you drive down Cleveland St. you will see a huge apartment complex that Arlington County renovated for low income illegals. The parking lots are filled with shady taxicabs, but the income is off the books so that they can get the subsidized apartments. Along with the Hispanic, there are many Nepalese, Indians, and Sri Lankans who want to be in a top school district. A little farther north on Lee Highway, the red brick apartments between Woodstock and Glebe Road are filled with Indians and Hispanic Many of the Indian women run daycares (filled with the children of Arlington's elite). Probably 75 kids at that stop. In the Halls Hill area, the red brick apartments on Culpeper St. are filled with hispanic kids. They don't get the bus but walk the back way into Glebe. I do have an idea about their status, so don't tell me to stop. |
