Councilman Gray down on Safeway: Does he know the owners are Trump affiliated arms manufacturers?

Same here. Evil motherf***er.

This is what happens when you have bankers, realtors, and investor with only money motives owning and running businesses instead of people who know, care , and want what to truly provide a product and service to the community, instead of just maximizing profits at any cost to customers, suppliers, employees, community. This will stop only when businesses get back to being local/ local focused and being concerned with local needs instead of just the pursuit of profits, profits, profits. Communities invite and support businesses, and businesses in turn OWE communities for their existence. This concept of inter twined relationships has been lost for too long in too many businesses. Too many corporation/businesses have lost their way. That is the root of the retail implosion that is running rampant through the economy today. Until the understanding that businesses exist to fulfill community/individual needs rather than communities/individuals exist to supply profits to businesses, failure at all levels will continue to be the norm

I am fundamentally concerned about the type of business our neighbourhood grocery dollars are supporting. I trust our ANC will reflect community values and take a tough stance against this local manifestation of the military industrial complex.

Huh.

I thought Safeway was owned by the Albertsons chain.

Do you have another grocery store for those locations?

No, it's guilt via war-profiteering and fear mongering. Just because a war profiteer wants to diversify his portfolio by buying a grocery chain doesn't mean we need to shop there.

Urban communities need to vote with their dollars and their best interests at heart. Rural interests don't care that we in cities must necessarily work together; we can't be "rugged individuals." Cities do better when you get guns off the streets; rural communities and gun capitalists don't care about our needs.

Maybe it would be more effective to get the people using the guns off the street? Perhaps it's not the tool that the criminals use so much as the criminals themselves but that's just crazy talk right?

I will agree that as someone who doesn't live in that area and would not travel or do business in that area I should have no say in how it's ran. but for some reason I find it hard to have sympathy for a group of people who keep voting the same caliber of people into office and expecting something to change.

Well said.

Ours does too. Also, people with intellectual disabilities. But I guess the bleeding heart liberals aren't actually concerned about these individuals, though they certainly pay them lip service. The "guilt-by-association" blather obviously takes precedence to them.

The leftist logic is astounding. Sounds like OP would prefer to have Ward 7 residents in a food desert, have union jobs removed so OP can virtue signal how woke she is.

THIS 1000x THIS.

Tenuous? It's clear: Safeway ownership is a Trump advisor / in the gun / military contracting business / lobbying for the privatization of the war in Afghanistan. On that basis I'm going to avoid it. What others do with the information is up to them. I didn't hear OP advocating for Grey to remove them.

1/ This is not guilt by association. Safeway is part of a corporate group. When you shop at safeway you enrich the group and its owners. The group owns various businesses, some of which are not nice. The owner is also a Trump advisor. Therefore I would prefer not to shop at Safeway.

2/ My local Safeway keeps taking out staffed check outs and replacing them with self serve. So, I shift my grocery spend from Safeway to a full service store avoiding a nasty company and supporting jobs.

Add my voice to those who will be avoiding Safeway so long as they are part of the Cerebus Group.
