Husband's Lack of Worry Re: Trump

He's a very caring guy towards me, but doesn't seem to care about people beyond myself and his family and close friends. It's really really disappointing to see this. I have actually found myself less attracted to him lately. Any advice on how to get over this? We just got married last year.

When I read the first line I thought, is she married to Alfred E. Newman?

Are you able to articulate how they are detrimental? A lot of liberals seems very emotional right now but unable to discuss what changes have been made or what exactly has happened that they have a problem with. Of course there is the ban on people from seven countries but how is that detrimental to this country? It can only hurt America to let these people in.

Agree 100%. [i]Also, there were Obama policies that conservatives feel were detrimental to this county, yet you didn't see conservatives being disrespectful to the president or whining as if the world was going to come to and end.[b] Rather we made the best of it, continued to love our country and voted when it was time. I find it shocking how liberals are offended that there is at least half the population that disagrees with them on things like border security and abortion. News flash, your view is not the only view and not the current majority.

I don't like Trump, but I'm not in a state of panic either. I have lived through many things and survived. Everything seems bigger in the moment. Close the browser and stop reading alarmist news all day.

Being able to stay calm and productive, despite some unpleasant things going on, comes from experience.

As far as him "only" caring for you, his friends and family, all I can say is -- if everything is a priority, nothing is a priority. It sounds like he has his priorities in order.

Suck it, liberals! You lost.

I would give you a pass if this were before inauguration, but the fact that you are still standing behind this incoherent, incompetent narcissist is beyond the pale. You're full of hate, PP. And when your fascist leader gets impeached, I'll be the first in line to welcome you back to democracy and not tell you to suck it, even though you're a loser. Sad!

If you are from the states, this is pretty alarming. I mean, if you come from a war torn country maybe you don't care. If you're a man, maybe you don't care. But truly, if you have read ANYTHING, you know that this man is an existential threat to our democracy. And even to our people after his foreign policy is over and done with. The 'wait and see' shit has really got me pissed. I'm sure tons of germans said that before the war.

I dare you to tell your husband what you posted OP. Then tell us what he said.

I am your husband. I didn't vote for Trump, but honestly, I don't understand the hysterics. He's a moron, completely devoid of principles, intellectual heft, or even basic decency. And yet. We still all get up in the morning and take care of our kids, go to work, coach the soccer team, try to hang out with friends on the weekend, maybe get a little sex, watch a good movie or read a good book, pay some taxes, fix the bathroom sink. Y'all need to calm down a little bit. Federal policy re administrative agencies has very little impact on my life or yours.

Sure, you want to get out there and say "Instand against this immigration restriction", gonfor it. But it's not the end of the world.

And today's black history month speech was absolutely hysterical. If it were a McSweeney's piece or on SNL, it would have been epic. Embrace the comic relief if nothing else.

I'm a liberal and I'm so over my news feed. It's not that I don't care, it's that I expected chaos and disorder and I would rather focus on more productive things that I can control.

I have to say, OP, your DH sounds like a keeper.

If you lose him because if your partisan politics, you'd probably be the one suffering the most IMO.

As an immigrant, I hate to break the news, but I've found that in many many areas conservatives are more tolerant and respectful than progressives.

The issues aren't even just the fact that he literally can't speak in complete sentences or form a coherent thought, it's that he's stacking the cabinet with the same. If you have kids, you should be extremely worried that he even suggested someone like DeVos, no less that she might actually get confirmed (one more vote to swing.) He's an imbecile. And you voted for him. Yeah, you're right. We lost all right. We all did, but you're too dumb to realize it.

Ummm, yes? Honestly how much of your life do you think is influenced in a meaningful way by executive branch policy? Maybe if you work for an agency. But otherwise, meh. Politics and public policy (particularly at the federal level) are not nearly as important as DC people think they are.

Just remember, half this country agrees with him and the majority even agree with his immigrant policies. None of us truly knows how this will all pan out. What happens in a year or so and things are going great for the US? Will you be big enough to admit it?
