SERIOUS: Have you ever had a premonition about something, and then it happened?

Anonymous
Yes. I've had important premonitions twice.

When I was in college, I had 2-3 days of feeling very off. I knew that I needed to call home and I was dreading it. I knew something was seriously, seriously wrong. When I finally called home, I learned that my cousin (whom I was close with) had a psychotic break and was in a psychiatric unit.

Years later, my boyfriend was in the hospital following a serious accident. The hospital was about 200 miles from my home/work. The night before he died I knew that he was going to die. He had been doing better, but I had the worst feeling that something was going wrong and that he wasn't going to make it. I had an overwhelming feeling of dread. I called his mom around 8pm but she said he was stable and doing as well as he had been. He became unstable and died in the middle of the night and died around 5 am. His mom called me the next morning to tell me.

This is not exactly what you are asking for, but I had a dream that my DS when i was pregnant was named L---. So I named him L---.

Yes. I had a very strong premonition before my grandfather went in for routine surgery that he wouldn't survive it. I mean, there was a certainty -- not a fear. I just knew it in my heart. He survived it initially but died in recovery 36 hours later.

Yes, and I am being serious. I had a very bad dream, it felt real, that I watched an airplane crash. I woke up with a strange feeling. 2 days later there was a crash in Ukraine (the one that was shot down by Russia.

I have had premonitions of things that then happened.

I have also had premonitions of things that then did not happen.

True story ( an I dont believe in premonitions). I had a boyfriend/ We were friends with another couple, the girl was my best friend. I had a dream early in my relationship with my boyfriend before he even met the friend that he is kissing her. After I broke up with him, they got together.

It was a feeling. So, my BIL had a flight back home from visiting us two days before my sister had her flight back to the same town. He needed to be back in time, but we all saw that he could be more flexible. So I said, you will go there and flight will be delayed and you will end up being late for this date anyway! Several hours later he and my DH come back from the airport! Some birds flew into the engine and flight was cancelled. Next day, flight cancelled again due to technical issues! He was late and arrived back only couple of hours before his wife. Since then, I am not allowed to mention flights or travel! LOL. Not sure that is a premonition. There were several similar incidents with me, so much so, my sister calls me a witch in jest and asks me to send good vibes and think positive!

Yes, all my life - starting in childhood. A few premonitions have been significant (my father dying), but most have been mundane. If I have a premonition of something serious/harmful, I alter my plans accordingly.

I don't have premonitions often, maybe once every year or so, but I listen to them. I'm not aware of anyone else in my ancestry who had this ability, but I would not be surprised if it is something that's passed down. I don't really discuss this with my children, but it seems that my oldest son may have a similar ability.

Yes. I knew that my grandpa had died (felt a wave of loss and sadness) before anyone told me that he had died. And with one family member I saw a beautiful light pattern on my ceiling (I wasn't the only one who saw it) - it was surreal and unexplainable but very, very there and I just knew.

I had a terrible dream about losing my bf. I woke up breathing heavy and heart racing. I immediately called him to make sure he was ok. I had never been so worried. He was mad I woke him up at 4 am but if made me feel better, but not 100%. A few weeks later he died suddenly.

I had a strong feeling that my sister was in danger so I called her. It went straight to vm. She called back a couple hours later and said when I called she was on the other line with a 911 operator. Someone was trying to break into her apartment.

I was in college, it was near winter break. That day my dad and his girldfriend were driving out to the midwest to get my sister, as she was spending the spring semester abroad and had to get her stuff home. I woke up in the morning freaking out about my dad, and called my sister to find out if he was there yet (this was before there were cell phones). She wasn't expecting him until later in the day. I didn't really know why I was freaking out, I just felt compelled to track him down.

Came to find out later the exact time I was freaking out, my dad got in a spin-out on an icy highway in Pennsylvania and collided with a tractor trailer. He and his gf were fine, but the car was totalled.

Amazing to hear about all the people who felt this sudden urge of panic or need to call the person, right as an accident was happening.

Nothing compared to most of these, but when I was 14 I was at sleep-away camp and dreamed my beloved guinea pig had died. I called home in the morning and asked and my parents told me he was fine. But when they picked me up a month later, they admitted he had in fact died the night I had the dream.

I very frequently have deja vu feelings down to thinking that the exact scenario or words have happened before, but the guinea pig incident is the only time I can think of where it went forward, not backward.

I used to get deja vu pretty frequently as a teen/young adult. Now, decades later, I rarely get it. Wonder why that is..
