Liberal democrat here -- and new poster. I have to say, after reading those emails, that I feel sorry for him. Yes, I know that his hypocrisy has hurt a lot of people and I know that this is no more than he deserves, and I have to say I laughed my ASS off when I read those emails. Still, sometimes when I see things like this, and the glee with which people consume the self-destruction of an imperfect person, I just hope that I never get exactly what I deserve in life. Of course, to be fair, I've never done anything quite like this...but still, I've definitely written some incredibly embarrassing emails that would embarrass the hell out of me if they ever got out.
I hope he is humbled enough to have a new perspective on life and to become a better person after this and maybe reconsider his rigid views. But I hope this does not destroy him or his wife or his mistress. This is the kind of scandal that leads to people taking their own lives. The State should consider not releasing those emails, but I'm sure they will. I dont really think it is the right thing to do but I'm not sure why I feel that way, since he probably would have wanted the emails released of other "cheaters" he denounced. |

PS Argentine, Argentinian and Argentinean are ALL technically correct for noun or adjective use for persons or objects. Argentine is "old school" British (a la Falklands era), Argentinean is also British-y (think ChileAN). Argentinian is most common these days, esp in the US. |

Completely disagree. I thought his emails were pathetic. He was just blowing smoke at her. Gaslighting her as a therapist might note. And I bet he does love his wife and wants to stay with her. He's just a selfish jerk (and not a romantic at ALL) who wants EVERYTHING: his respected, powerful holier-than-thou republican position, his loving wife/companion and family, and his hot South American hottie. He is not a romantic at all. Quite the opposite. He deserves all the ridicule that he is going to get. And I have to tell you, these republicans are the biggest bunch of creeps - I grew up in a NY "Rockefeller Republican" family, and I'm disgusted now by the party as a whole and the creepy individuals who seek office and lead secret lives. |
