Why are white American men so afraid of a female POTUS?

Anonymous
White man here who voted for her when she ran against Obama in primaries who will not vote for her now. Too much has happened.

This is just as bad as saying women will vote for Clinton just because she is a woman. Gender is not part of my calculus so why should I assume it is for white men?

OK, so I changed the title -- added "majority". The polls back up how majority of white men, especially non educated, support Trump.

"Trump led Clinton among men overall (56 percent to 34 percent), white male college graduates (59 to 33) and white men without college degrees (76 to 14)."

""This is the group that economically and socially have lost the most ground in America over the last 30 or 40 years," he told ABC News on Tuesday. "There was a time when, by virtue of being a man, you could feel superior to women in the workforce. There was a time when you could make a pretty good living in manufacturing, and that’s disappearing. There was a time when you didn’t feel a lot of competition from immigrants ... and that's disappearing.""

I feel like to this group of men, HRC epitomizes the loss of their "manness", and dark skin immigrants epitomizes the loss of their manufacturing jobs (which really started with Reagan when those jobs started moving down south).

I still don’t agree with your title.
What is your evidence that the majority of men are opposed to HRC because of her gender?
Just because this is a premise of some journalist?

Take ''afraid'' out of the subject line and then there is nothing to chat about.

I mean, I could just as easily use any minority and ask why they are afraid of Trump, or any Republican.

OP here. I am a female minority. I, and many other Republicans, are afraid of Trump because of his policies, his recklessness and willingness to use nuclear arms, to murder the children of terrorists as a means to justify the ends; of his hateful rhetoric, and how it's dividing this country; his economic policies that will make the US into a 3rd world country, and kill the environment. Isn't that enough reason to be afraid of Trump?

As I stated, I wonder about it because of the latest broohaha over her lack of smiling on the CIC forum, which was called out by white men. But, what that article stated about uneducated white men seems dead on. Even Trump agrees that they are angry about the loss of jobs. In the past few decades, women have increased not only their presence, but their importance in the job market.

The men I know are not against a female POTUS. They are against THIS female.

Bull. If it were some other woman, the same men would be against her, too, for other non-reasons.

But you're ok with the message that a male POTUS can make fun of a woman's look? If a female leader did this, you would be ok with that, too?

How has she portrayed herself as a victim because she's a woman? If anything, she has stated that she's had to learn to control her emotions, hide them, because she is a woman.

Where did I say I was OK with anyone making fun of her looks? I did not. I'm not a Trump supporter if that's what you're trying to imply.

I just can't stand the extent to which Clinton surrogates scream accusations of sexism from the rooftops every single time there is a somewhat negative news report about her (regardless of the substance). I don't think always feeling and acting like a victim is healthy. And I don't think it sends a good message to her fellow female Americans.

Just like everything isn't about race, not everything is about gender.

Trump's doesn't tell ANY truth at all. Everything he says is a lie. He is just conning his way to presidency. And his minions are paying for his self funded campaign. While the master doesn't pay taxes the Trump slaves pay theirs. It's a master slave relationship so the master is akways right and unquestioned.

Not at all afraid of a woman President and plan to vote for Jill Stein.

Yes Trump has happened and he the master now commands his minions to slave their ass for him. The master doesn't tell any truth at all. The slaves fund the Masters self funded campaign. The slaves don't question why the master doesn't pay taxes like the minions. After all the king doesn't pay taxes and only slaves pay.

why? He's just as bad as she is. Why is it that he can say horrible things, but if she does it shows she's heartless? The crap he said about the Gold Star family was pretty heartless, too, no? But his supporters backed him. If she had said anything of that sort, she would've skewered. Oh, wait, she was skewered for stating that Ms. Smith didn't remember it the same way she did, and that wasn't even close to an insult as what Trump stated about the Gold Star family he insulted.

Sorry, just have to correct you that there is no equivalence here at all. Trump is in a league of his own when it comes to corruption, lying, and boorish behavior.

Anonymous wrote:There are several western (and non western countries) with female leaders. Why are American white men so against HRC?

There has been much said about the Commander in Chief forum, and how HRC never smiled. The white male Repubs made a point about that. If she had been a man, I highly doubt they would've said anything about it.

I'm not a huge HRC supporter (I'm actually a former Republican), but I don't understand why American white males are sexist in this regard. I know, I know.. she's crooked, unfit, blah blah blah.. but honestly, the same argument can be used against Trump.

So, is it because they are sexist? Would they, could they even admit it to themselves?

They are in YOUR MIND and for some reason you can't let it go. In reality it is far from a fact or issue. Can you even admit that to yourself?

My DH is white and voting for HRC. So, yes, I know there are white American men who don't support Trump. But, a vast majority do. Like I stated, in my mind, he is as bad as she is. So why support him but not her?

Do you honestly think if she said some of the things he has, making fun of a disabled person on national tv, saying hateful things about a religion, an ethnic group, that she wouldn't be called a horrible person? Yet, Trump has said all these things, but his supporters say nothing about his behavior.

He is as arrogant, if not more so, than she is, but I read on here all the time by Trump supporters about how arrogant she is. The backlash she got for not smiling on the CIC forum was very telling to me.

Thats a false dichotomy, trump is much worse than Hillary in every measure. But somehow people say he is the same. No he is not. Trump never tells the truth. It's all lies all the time. Hilary lies like any normal human. Trump is a sociopath who sees no difference between a lie and a truth.

We're not "afraid" of her for being female.

We don't like her because she is CROOKED and a LEFTIST.

Nominate a female conservative with personal integrity and we'll happily vote for her.

Anonymous wrote:Why do you generalize? Plenty of white American males are not afraid of a female president.

I'm a white American male who'll vote for Hillary because I think Trump would be an unmitigated disaster, but I am getting sick of the many women and minorities in the country who now revel in consistently painting my demographic in the broadest, most negative terms they can get away with under the particular circumstances, secure in the knowledge that similar characterization of others besides white men would not be tolerated. I get that I've enjoyed privileges others have not enjoyed, but the current climate is fairly toxic, and the thought of leaving the US for another country now occurs regularly to me.

Now you're changing the subject to fear of Trump from white men being afraid of a female POTUS?

And according to most you are an anomaly. A minority woman who is a Republican.
